Job summary

AIR Communities is hiring a Maintenance Technician for Vaughan Place Apartment homes in Washington, DC. This luxury 380+-unit community emphasizes world-class resident service using modern technology and well-equipped shops.

You will perform repairs on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and appliances, support apartment turns, and help residents with day-to-day maintenance needs. A flexible schedule and on-site presence are required.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of maintenance experience.
  • Proficient in at least two trades (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.).
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts.
  • Reliable transportation to respond to emergency service requests.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent service to residents and assist team members.
  • Complete basic apartment turns to prep units for new residents.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot/repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and appliances.
  • Provide guidance to other Maintenance Technicians and support skill development.
  • Assist with vendor coordination and move-in/move-out inspections.

The Location

Located in Washington, DC, outside of Cathedral Heights, just minutes from historical landmarks such as the National Cathedral. Perfectly situated on Wisconsin Avenue, a haven for craft cocktails, eateries, and boutiques featuring retailers right on-site! Be minutes away from Embassy Row and Georgetown, plus Glover Archbold Park – a great place to escape the hustle and bustle.

What We Offer
  • Expected hourly rate of $24.00- $27.00 per hour. You will be provided a pay rate that is in line with your skills and experience as they relate to the requirements of the job.

What You Will Do
  • Provide excellent service to residents and assistance to team members.
  • Follow AIR’s process for completion of basic apartment turns to make the apartment ready for the next resident’s perfect move-in experience
  • With general direction, complete resident requested repairs and routine maintenance (i.e. troubleshoot and repair/replace plumbing, basic electrical components, HVAC equipment, and appliances, etc.)
  • May provide functional/technical direction and training to other Maintenance Technicians and support the development of technical skills.
  • May assist with managing vendor quality and may perform move-in/move-out inspections.
  • Responsibilities vary based on team member skillset and community needs, mechanical systems, and season.

What You Have
  • At least 2 years of maintenance experience, preferably in some form of facilities or building environment
  • Proficient skills in at least two technical trades (plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, HVAC, carpentry, etc.)
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, 7-day work weeks (depending on community needs and seasonality), and on-call shifts (at least one week a month).
  • A reliable mode of transportation to respond to emergency service requests while on-call after hours.
  • Comfort with physical activity as you must be able and willing to move heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.

What You Need To Know
