Metals USA is seeking a Maintenance Technician for our Wooster, OH location. Metals USA is a leading metals processor/distributor in North America, providing a wide range of carbon, stainless steel, and aluminum flat rolled products and services. Qualifications
  • Must have qualifications through education and experience in high voltage electrical/ mechanical work or Journey-level experience equivalent
  • Minimum one ( 3 ) years' experience in general maintenance repair work
  • Must have qualifications to work on high voltage electrical equipment following all requirements.
  • Experience p erform ing regular preventative maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities as prescribed in the preventative/predictive maintenance plan .
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Position requires availability for emergency on call situations to come in and repair equipment as needed in the evenings and/or weekends .

Responsibilities
  • Perform mechanical duties including, but not limited to, mechanical, industrial electrical (up to 480 volts), pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on our machines.
  • We operate large flat rolled steel processing lines such as cut to length, slit, shear, and polishing.
  • Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists.
  • Reassembles machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work.
  • Starts machines and observes mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems.
  • Inspects or tests damaged machine parts, and marks defective areas or advises supervisor of repair needs.
  • Lubricates or applies adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts, or other equipment, according to specified procedures.
  • Installs, replaces, or changes machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications.
  • Uses Maintenance X program to maintain supplies and spare parts inventory.
  • Reads maintenance repair work orders and specifications to determine machine and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
  • Direct other teammates to assist in various improvement projects and collaborate with other workers to repair or move machines, machine parts, or equipment.
  • Maintains equipment files and orders spare‑parts inventory on service center equipment and work effectively with operations to implement a preventive maintenance program to improve equipment uptime (or reliability).
  • May occasionally drive company motor vehicles for local pick‑up for parts.
  • Comply with all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and promote the same throughout the facility.
  • Perform highly diverse duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility's equipment.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
