Job summary

AkzoNobel is seeking a Maintenance Technician for 2nd or 3rd shift. Starting pay is $28–$29 per hour with overtime at 1.5x after 40 hours weekly. The role begins with training on first shift, then transitions to either 2nd or 3rd shift.

Responsibilities include analyzing mechanical issues, performing repairs, preventive maintenance, and ensuring safety standards. Benefits begin Day 1, plus retirement, bonus, and education support.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or vocational training.
  • 2 years related maintenance experience preferred.
  • Must be able to lift 55 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to work 2nd or 3rd shift with OT.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes mechanical problems on assigned equipment and performs repairs to maintain production efficiency.
  • Performs minor repairs on flooring, lighting, piping, and painting; moves furniture and organizes storerooms.
  • Conducts preventive/predictive maintenance and tests equipment after repairs.
  • Adheres to HSE policies and keeps a safe, clean work area.
  • Supports on-call duties after hours and weekends; assists with area housekeeping.

We currently have an opening available on both second and third shift. Starting pay $28 - $29 hourly (OT at 1.5X after 40 hrs. weekly)

The role begins with a training period of a couple of months on first shift, followed by a transition to either second or third shift.
2nd shift: Monday - Friday: 2.00 PM -10.30 PM - Shift differential $.85
3rd shift: Sunday - Thursday: 10.00 PM - 6.30 AM - Shift differantial $1.15

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyzes mechanical, problems on assigned equipment, plans for and takes corrective action. Makes necessary repairs and adjustments to maintain maximum production efficiency and quality. Tests equipment operation after repairs or installations is completed and notifies necessary persons of equipment operational status. Assists with new equipment installations as needed.
  • Performs minor repairs on flooring, concrete, drywall repair and painting. Repairs, and replaces lighting, process, pneumatic, and water piping (potable and fire protection). Moves furniture, miscellaneous boxes and files as required. Assists with inventory management and keeps storerooms and shop neat and clean.
  • Performs preventive/predictive maintenance on assigned equipment by visually inspecting, greasing, testing safety switches, measuring with go-no-go gauges, recording critical information, oil analysis etc. and reporting adverse findings to the Maintenance Manager. To maximize equipment up-time potential problems are identified and either repaired immediately or scheduled for repairs to eliminate breakdowns during operation.
  • Complies with all HSE policies and reports any concerns, which may have an adverse impact on health safety and the environment. Attends monthly safety meetings, maintains a neat, clean and safe work area, works safely and requires others to work safely also. Adheres to AkzoNobel’s Code of Conduct. Corrects or notifies supervisor of unsafe conditions.
  • Perform area housekeeping responsibilities
  • Assist with on call duties after hours and weekends
Job Requirements
  • Position requires a minimum of High School Diploma, vocational/military training or 2 years related experience.
  • Must possess a valid and current driver’s license
  • Must possess manual dexterity and have the ability to lift at least 55 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for periods of eight to twelve hours.
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to use ladders, hoists, industrial trucks and material handling equipment.
  • Must have the ability to wear a breathing apparatus and other associated HSE personal protective equipment
  • Must possess the ability to read and comprehend equipment repair manuals, standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Must be proficient in the safe use of a wide variety of hand tools, measuring devices (tape measures calipers, gauges, micrometers etc.), power tools (table saw, cut off saw, bench grinders, sanders.)
  • Skillful in building and grounds maintenance carpentry, plumbing, pipefitting and related operations involving building repair and grounds maintenance.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime as required
