Job summary

Rise Baking Company in Dallas, TX, is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to support the plant’s equipment and building systems, ensuring adherence to food safety policies and OSHA regulations.

You will troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, perform preventive maintenance, and repair boilers and ammonia systems, with CMMS scheduling and strict safety practices. A 2-year electronics/maintenance degree or 5+ years of experience is required.

Qualifications

  • 2-year degree in electronics/maintenance or 5+ years in maintenance roles.
  • Experience with repair or preventive maintenance in hydraulics, pneumatics, machine shop, electricity or electronics.
  • PLC experience and CMMS proficiency.
  • Lockout/Tagout program knowledge.
  • Boiler operations experience and ammonia/freon handling is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical problems with plant equipment (e.g., mechanical drives, HVAC, hydraulic and pneumatic systems).
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical problems with plant equipment (wiring, circuits, fuses, switches, transformers, motors, AC/DC drives).
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all plant equipment and building systems (air conditioning, lights, forklifts).
  • Fabricate replacement parts as needed and repair equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Electronically troubleshoot PLC controlled equipment and 24 Volt control circuits.
  • Report food safety and quality issues to appropriate personnel and comply with SOPs.
  • Maintain documentation via CMMS and follow lockout/tagout procedures.

Job Purpose

Support the company’s maintenance program by focusing on plant equipment and building maintenance in a manner that meets and complies with all food safety policies and OSHA regulations.

Essential Functions
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical problems with plant equipment (e.g., mechanical drive systems, HVAC, hydraulic and pneumatic systems)
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical problems with plant equipment (e.g., wiring, circuits, fuses, switches, electrical installations, transformers, motors, and AC/DC motor drives)
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all plant equipment
  • Perform building maintenance and repairs (e.g., air conditioning, lights, forklifts)
  • Perform repairs on equipment to prevent long‑term downtime until permanent repairs can be completed
  • Fabricate replacement parts or equipment as needed
  • Electronically troubleshoot PLC controlled equipment by means of installed PLC
  • Electronically troubleshoot 24 Volt control circuits
  • Report food safety and quality issues to appropriate personnel
  • Comply with all food safety requirements, training, policies, and procedures
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications (Education, Experience, Competencies)
  • 2-year degree in electronics/maintenance mechanics or 5+ years in maintenance mechanic role
  • Experience with repair or preventive maintenance in hydraulics, pneumatics, machine shop, electricity, or electronics
  • PLC experience
  • Advanced knowledge of CMMS
  • Working knowledge of lockout/tagout programs
  • Working knowledge of boiler operations
  • Experience with ammonia, freon, or other cooling media
  • Advanced stick and tig welding skills; ability to weld to sanitary standards
  • Intermediate computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts to identify solutions
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team to complete assigned tasks
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
