Responsibilities
- Repair, maintain, and rebuild all production equipment, including electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Coordinate maintenance processes with the production department to minimize impact on production output and packaging
- Respond to calls from production and management to make repairs
- Assist with all aspects of new equipment installation
- Assist management with scheduling maintenance projects
- Maintain accurate and complete departmental records
- Record all work in Fiix CMMS
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, construction drawings, machine manuals, electrical blueprints and schematics
- Ensure all equipment adheres to applicable safety requirements
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain good 6S housekeeping standards
- Work with contractors as needed
- Perform additional projects or duties to support ongoing business needs
Scope of Work
- Works under direct supervision and follows written or verbal instructions to accomplish assigned tasks
- Independently performs assignments after receiving general instructions on expected results
- Resolves routine questions and problems, and coordinates complex issues with others
- Demonstrates awareness of relative urgency of tasks and responds accordingly
Knowledge and Skills
- Read electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics (knowledge of symbols)
- Mentor and train Technicians 1 and 2
- In‑depth knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Understand relay logic
- Perform major electrical repairs
- Familiarity with the National Electrical Code
- Design and implement equipment improvements
- Troubleshoot PLC systems to component level
- Download, upload and modify PLC programs
- Change and program drives and HMIs
- Strong knowledge of Allen Bradley and Omron programs
- Select replacement parts for obsolete components
- Make necessary program changes when needed
- Perform and write preventive maintenance (PM) procedures for all equipment
- Lead, critique, and improve Kaizens
- Champion and present 6S projects, and participate in regular 6S activities
- Correct PPE violations when seen and report continued violations to leads
- Identify safety hazards and implement corrective actions
- All prior knowledge and skills required for lower‑level technicians
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in industrial maintenance
- Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- DC drives, servos, solenoids, photo eyes, relays, limit switches, and electric motors
- PLC systems, preferably Allen Bradley, Siemens and Direct Logic
- Industrial welding: repair as well as fabrication, MIG, TIG
Education
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Associate’s degree in electrical or mechanical field, or graduation from a trade school; any certifications are a plus, preferred
