Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician ensures the smooth operation of manufacturing equipment and facilities in a food manufacturing environment. The role requires technical skills, problem-solving, and a commitment to safety and hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance, inspections, lubrication, and adjustments on machinery such as conveyors, mixers, packaging equipment, and refrigeration systems. Troubleshoot and repair equipment to minimize downtime. Respond to emergency repairs during production.
• Facility Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and organization in production areas, and repair facility systems including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Safety and Compliance: Follow safety protocols, participate in safety training, and ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, OSHA, and company policies.
• Documentation and Reporting: Keep accurate maintenance records, document repairs, and manage inventory.
• Collaboration and Communication: Coordinate with production teams, communicate maintenance issues, and assist in training staff on equipment and safety procedures.

Minimum Job Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; technical schooling preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in industrial manufacturing, especially in automated food processing.
• 5 years troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Electrical troubleshooting and repairs, including PLC, relay logic, and control systems.
• Proficiency in PLC programming, HMI, and SCADA systems.
• Understanding of electrical systems, motors, drives, and sensors.
• Knowledge of safety standards and regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Capable of mechanical repairs including hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Proficient in computer use for maintenance documentation.

Working Conditions

• Exposure to dust, fumes, odors, noise, vibration, and seasonal weather conditions.
• Physical risks from working around machinery, chemicals, electrical hazards, etc.
• Ability to stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform various physical activities daily.
