Link Snacks, a Wisconsin-based meat snack company, is seeking a Maintenance Technician on the second shift to keep production and packaging equipment running safely and efficiently. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system issues on production and packaging equipment.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and production support requests to minimize downtime.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities on production equipment and facility systems.
  • Conduct routine inspections of machinery and equipment to identify potential failures and recommend corrective actions.
  • Install, modify, repair, and improve production equipment and facility systems.
  • Support production startup, changeovers, and operational adjustments as needed.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals.
  • Troubleshoot motors, drives, sensors, relays, contactors, photo-eyes, and other industrial control components.
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and preventive maintenance documentation within the maintenance management system.
  • Requisition tools, replacement parts, and maintenance supplies as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, GMPs, HACCP requirements, OSHA regulations, and food safety standards.
  • Maintain clean and organized maintenance work areas and equipment.
  • Assist with general facility maintenance and repair projects.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Schedule: Monday - Friday 3:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m.

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining production equipment, packaging equipment, facility systems, and related support equipment in a safe, efficient, and reliable operating condition. This position performs troubleshooting, repairs, preventive maintenance, equipment improvements, and production support activities to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency during second shift operations.

The successful candidate will possess strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, work independently with minimal supervision, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that support safety, quality, and productivity goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system issues on production and packaging equipment.

Qualifications

Required Education: High school diploma or GED

Minimum Qualifications
  • 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance testing equipment.
Preferred
  • Experience in a food manufacturing or packaging environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting form-fill-seal packaging equipment, conveyors, coding systems, metal detectors, case packers, and palletizing equipment.
  • Technical degree, maintenance certification, apprenticeship, or related technical training.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Working knowledge of industrial manufacturing equipment, conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, chains, belts, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems including motors, motor controls, sensors, relays, contactors, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment and basic PLC troubleshooting.
  • Experience using diagnostic and testing equipment including multimeters and electrical testing devices.
  • Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to effectively communicate maintenance needs and recommendations to production and leadership teams.
  • Proactive work style with a demonstrated ability to complete assignments despite obstacles or changing priorities.
  • Punctual, dependable, and able to maintain regular attendance.

The employee must be able to:

  • Frequently stand and walk throughout the shift.
  • Frequently bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle tools, equipment, and parts.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Lift greater than 50 pounds with assistance or mechanical lifting devices.
  • Work in cold, wet, and humid production environments.
  • Work safely around moving mechanical equipment.
  • Distinguish colors, read gauges and displays, and perform close-detail work.

Work is performed within a food manufacturing facility and may involve exposure to:

  • Moving mechanical equipment and machinery.

  • Wet, cold, or humid environments.
  • Cleaning chemicals and sanitation processes.
  • Elevated work platforms and confined spaces when necessary.
