Responsibilities
- Observe mechanical devices in operation to locate causes of trouble.
- Fabricate, disassemble, and assemble production equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts.
- Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
- Repair or replace defective parts.
- Lubricate and clean parts.
- Initiate purchase orders for parts and machines and create and document hours worked on applicable work orders.
- Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment and troubleshoot/repair processing, filling, and packaging production equipment.
- Weld, perform sheet metal work and employ basic shop floor skills (lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools).
- Install, move, and relocate machinery/equipment according to blueprints and other drawings.
- Read and interpret blueprints and equipment manuals.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead or Supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three to five years’ experience in an industrial maintenance role.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting bearings, belts, sheaves, sprockets, chains, and gear reducers and proper alignment of these drive devices.
- Experience in inspection of the above and the ability to make recommendations on the proper level of replacement and inspection.
- Ability to make recommendations on spare parts, lock‑out tag‑out procedures, guarding, and the level of operator involvement for proper machine integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in the food industry and knowledge of GMP’s and SQF audits.
Essential Skills and Abilities
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
- Calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Working Conditions
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and power industrial truck.
- Exposure to cold, wet, and/or humid conditions.
- Loud noise level in the work environment.
Physical Demands
- Stand, talk, or hear regularly.
- Walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms frequently.
- Sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally.
- Lift and or move up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 25 pounds frequently, and more than 100 pounds occasionally.
Pay and Benefits
The hourly pay range is $27.00–$35.00. The position may also be eligible for overtime pay and shift differentials.
