Job summary

BC Wood Products, the largest industrial manufacturer of custom pallets and crates in Virginia, seeks a maintenance technician in Ashland. The ideal candidate will read schematics and troubleshoot both mechanical and electrical equipment used in pallet fabrication.

Qualifications

  • At least 3+ years of Electrical or Mechanical background for troubleshooting and fixing machinery.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Experience with Maintenance Management Software (CMMS).
  • Read and interpret instructions for ordering parts as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Performs mechanical and electrical repair of all machinery and production equipment safely.
  • Installation of new/used operational equipment as needed.
  • Dismantle, adjust, repair, and assemble equipment and facilities as required.
  • Monitor OSHA safety regulations and maintain a safe, neat workspace.
  • Help maintain upkeep of shop/office as needed.
  • Able to use software to manage maintenance requests.

Job description

BC Wood Products is the largest industrial manufacturer of custom wooden pallets and crates in Virginia. We lead the market in providing customizable solutions to our customers needs. Our equipment and personnel are constantly evolving and developing safe and efficient procedures to surpass customers expectations in both price and quality. BC Wood Products is looking for our next maintenance technician. The Ideal candidate would be passionate and experienced in maintaining a variety of equipment and assets used in the manufacture of wooden pallets. The candidate should be able to read and understand schematics, using them for troubleshooting, repairing, and assembling both mechanical and electrical components.

Pay Range: $32 - $36 per hour [+ $1.50/hour 2nd/3rd shift differential]

Responsibilities
  • Performs mechanical and electrical repair of all machinery and production equipment safely without posing a danger to self or others
    • Follow verbal and posted safety rules at all time, including wearing the proper PPE for each task
    • Follow scheduled Preventative maintenance procedures
  • Installation of new/used operational equipment as needed
  • Dismantle, adjust, repair, and assemble equipment and facilities as required
  • Monitor the implementation of OSHA safety regulations and standards, ensuring a safe, neat, and clean workspace
  • Help maintain upkeep of shop/office as needed
  • Able to use software to manage requests for maintenance
Physical Demands
  • Constant (5-10 hrs/day): Walking, Kneeling, Standing, Bending, Stooping, Talking, Hearing, Reaching
  • Frequent (2-6 hrs/day): Lifting & Moving, Carrying, Pushing or Pulling Objects
  • Lifts 50 lbs or more repeatedly throughout 10-hour workdays
Must Haves
  • At least 3+ years of Electrical or Mechanical background for troubleshooting and fixing machinery
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Maintenance Management Software knowledge
  • Read and interrupt instructions for ordering parts as needed
  • Positive and Curious mindset, able to drill down to the root cause of an issue and solve the problem with little guidance.
Like To Have
  • 8 years of industrial manufacturing maintenance experience
  • 3 years of welding Experience
  • 3 years of industrial electric experience
Education

Combination of relevant Education or work experience, including at least 3 years of work experience. The majority of this work is performed inside, but outside work will occasionally be required
