Job Description:

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen for irregular sounds to identify issues.
  • Dismantle devices to access and replace defective parts, inspecting for imperfections.
  • Inspect used parts to ensure they meet dimensional requirements.
  • Adjust functional parts and control instruments as needed.
  • Repair or replace defective parts, lubricate, and clean components following quality system practices.
  • Install special parts and test device performance.
  • Continuously build knowledge and share expertise with team members.
  • Use sound judgment and involve appropriate personnel in decision-making.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager to prioritize and plan work activities.
  • Initiate purchase orders for parts and equipment.
  • Work within budget and conserve resources.
  • Follow safety policies and report unsafe conditions.
  • Properly use equipment and maintain inventory records, including cycle counts.
  • Maintain own basic tool set, including wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, nut drivers, and hammers.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

No direct supervisory duties.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

One-year certificate from college or technical school, or two to three years related experience, or equivalent combination.

Computer Skills:

Basic computer skills, including inventory and maintenance software; PLC experience is a plus.

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to sit, handle objects, reach, talk, and hear. Frequently climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must lift/move up to 50 pounds frequently. Vision abilities include close, distance, color, and depth perception.

Work Environment:

Occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions. Work may occur in noisy production areas requiring hearing protection.
