Position Title: Maintenance Technician I

Operating Company: Environmental Solutions Group – Marathon Equipment

Location: Vernon, AL

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Department: Operations

Shift: 1st Shift

Position Summary: This person is primarily responsible for assisting with maintenance of Company equipment and facilities.

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

Assist Maintenance Technicians in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing plant machinery and equipment to assure safe and efficient operation. Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and HVAC. Gaining knowledge of facility wide preventative maintenance program to ensure good stewardship of company assets. Work with machine OEM and troubleshooting and repairing equipment. Utilize a CMMS application to manage maintenance work order, repairs, and root cause analysis (ROC). Perform facility and equipment audits. Communicate technical information through use of written, oral documentation. Ensure critical information is communicated at shift turnover. Operate forklifts and company vehicle as required. Support Lean initiatives 6S, Kanban, Standardized Work, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Kaizen. Participate in the Maintenance “On-Call” and shift rotation. Willingness to complete maintenance certification training.

Job Specifications:

Requires a High School diploma or GED. Minimum 2 years’ experience in similar role or manufacturing environment. 2-year degree in industrial technology or 3 years’ experience related to industrial electrical, industrial welding or industrial plumbing preferred. Experience with facility maintenance and equipment maintenance. Sheet Metal equipment knowledge: Laser and Press Brake knowledge preferred. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks in a complex, fast-paced environment. Basic understanding and experience with Microsoft Office (including Word and Excel). Looking for a candidate who exhibits leadership qualities and is a self-starter.

Requirements:

Education: Requires a High School diploma or GED.

Knowledge: Requires ability to understand general arithmetic; ability to write in an understandable manner; understand verbal or written instructions; ability to read and understand instructions, lists and billing materials; use PC based applications, including Outlook, and Microsoft Office, knowledge normally acquired through high school or equivalent experience.

Mental: Requires normal attention with periods of high concentration intermittently to operate machinery approximately 50% of time.

Physical: Requires walking/standing approximately 70%, lifting up to 40 pounds approximately 15% of time; involves repetitive overhead work approximately 10% of time; involves repetitive stooping, forward bending and crouching approximately 5% of time.

Manual Dexterity: Requires use of hands, arms and feet for repetitive lifting; use of hands and arms to operate all manufacturing equipment, meters, chains hoists, automatic drills and general hand tools and to record written information.

Audible Demands: Requires ability to follow verbal instructions and to hear for safety purposes.

Visual: Requires the ability to visually observe essential functions for satisfactory job performance and safety; color and depth perception required.

Environmental: Exposure to plant environments with the presence of dust, fumes, noise, and fluctuating temperatures due to lack of climate control.
