Job summary

Johnson Controls International plc. in Texas seeks a maintenance technician to support production with preventative maintenance of mechanical equipment and to assist in moving large chillers during production.

The role includes crane and forklift operation, participation in 5S, minor repairs, and training operators to improve autonomous maintenance while complying with EHS and JCMS metrics.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to use PPE and follow safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance of mechanical equipment to ensure reliability.
• Move large tonnage chillers using overhead cranes.
• Operate a forklift to move equipment.
• Assist with 5S projects and maintain clean, organized work areas.
• Provide minor mechanical repairs and support to maintenance technicians.
• Audit autonomous maintenance conducted by operators and train them to improve effectiveness.
• Support EHS and JCMS goals and participate in related observations program.
• Record system logs and report safety issues or unsafe acts promptly.

What you will do:

The maintenance technician will support production departments with preventative maintenance of the mechanical equipment to ensure it is predictable and is maintained to an excellent condition. The maintenance helper will also support the production departments with movements of large tonnage chillers for production.

How you will do it:

• Maintain spreaders bars and chains for moving production chillers.
• Utilize large overhead cranes to move production chillers.
• Utilize a forklift to move equipment.
• Preventative maintenance of all plant equipment.
• Assist the production departments with 5S projects.
• Support maintenance technician with minor mechanical repairs to plant equipment
• Use standard formats to audit the autonomous maintenance done by operators.
• Give training to operators to improve the effectiveness of autonomous maintenance.
• Ensure applicable activities that help achieve EHS & JCMS goals and metrics.
• Participate in EHS & JCMS observations program.
• Maintain security policy, health, and environment at work.
• Participate in Training program.
• Assist in defining corrective and preventive actions.
• Control system logs in your area.
• Intervene personally to identify and correct unsafe acts and recognize safe behavior
• Identify and report potential environmental impacts
• Report all injuries, almost accidents, unsafe acts / conditions and occupational health problems and take the necessary corrective measures, as well as support in the investigation.
• Support and comply with all security practices, systems and rules established in the company.
• Keep the areas clean and tidy, maintaining the 5S standards.
• Properly use Personal Protective Equipment.
• Review and participate in risk assessments ensuring the level of alertness in their areas when working with materials and chemicals.
