Job summary

Pratt Industries is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the 1st shift at our Sandston, VA facility. You will perform maintenance on the plant's buildings, machinery and equipment, and assist other maintenance personnel with mechanical tasks.

The ideal candidate reads mechanical diagrams and electrical schematics, understands hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and communicates effectively while using basic computer skills.

Qualifications

• Read mechanical diagrams and electrical schematics.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Intermediate computer skills and data entry.
• Ability to read a non-metric measuring tape and perform basic math.
• High school diploma or equivalent; 5+ years experience or training.

Responsibilities

• Follow and enforce safe work policies and procedures.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area.
• Troubleshoot electrical and electronic components.
• Ensure work orders are completed or resolved.
• Maintain parts inventory and assist training of coworkers.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Job Description

Overview:

• Performs required maintenance on the plant’s building, machinery and equipment.
• Assists other maintenance personnel in performing mechanical maintenance.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Follow and ensure that coworkers adhere to all applicable safe work policies & procedures.
• Maintain a safe & clean work area.
• Troubleshoot electrical and electronic components.
• Ensure that all work orders provided are completed as requested, or solution is reached.
• Maintain parts inventory.
• Complete all paper work and data entry as required.Assist in the training of coworkers.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

• Must be able to read mechanical diagrams and electrical schematics.
• Must have a good knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Required Skills:

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Intermediate computer skills
• Problem solving and critical thinking
• Must be able to read & use a non metric measuring tape
• Must be able to count & perform simple mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, & division)

Educational Requirements:

• High School Diploma or higher preferred, but not required
• At least 5 years of experience, or documented training.

Physical Demands:

• The employee is regularly required to walk and talk and hear.
• The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
• The employee is occasionally required to sit.
• Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

• Work space is not climate controlled and can reach both hot and cold extremes (30 degrees – 110 degrees Fahrenheit).
