Job summary

Ian Martin Group is seeking a Maintenance Technician for 12‑hour shift coverage in Faribault, MN. The role supports daily production, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, HMIs, and gear trains. Must be able to operate workshop tools and outdoor equipment safely.

The position is full‑time, non‑exempt, with a 2‑on/2‑off rotation (6 AM–6 PM / 6 PM–6 AM). Prior food‑production exposure is a plus, with strong safety and teamwork emphasis.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-year technical certificate or 6–12 months related experience preferred.
• Multi-shift manufacturing experience is a plus.
• Chemical/food production familiarity is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and control systems to support production.

Maintenance Technician - 12-hour shift

Shifts:

1st and 2nd shift

Shift timings:

6 AM-6 PM / 6 PM-6 AM on a 2-on/2-off rotation

SUMMARY:

Supports daily production operations through troubleshooting and continuous improvement of operational control systems. Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as motors, pneumatic & hydraulic systems, and equipment. Requires maintaining plant equipment, welding, machining, and general maintenance type functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Partner with Quality Assurance, executing and supporting all Quality programs that ensure the production of Safe, Quality Foods.
• Responsible for analyzing and resolving electrical problems, troubleshooting and continuous improvement on analog/digital electronic control systems, PLC programming, HMI systems, and computer network communications.
• Documents and implements work order procedures for new equipment/technology and the complete documentation of all system modifications.
• Responsible for installation and maintenance of Process Control Instruments, both pneumatic and electronic.
• Repairs, calibrates, and cleans all instruments, pressure switches, flow tubes, and gauges to ensure minimal downtime and efficient utilization of pneumatic and electronic equipment.
• Maintain flow of process, ensuring proper machine settings and speeds
• Monitor key process points and maintain records ensuring compliance with established standards
• Act as a troubleshooter to identify line performance issues and assist in correcting them
• Install, adjust and repair processing equipment in accordance with specifications
• Maintain equipment utilizing a Planned Maintenance Program
• Ensure safety of all employees by continuously monitoring compliance with safety procedures and evaluating processes for safety risks. Responsible for overseeing strict observance of all safety rules and will use extreme caution around moving machinery.
• Responsible for general housekeeping of maintenance and production areas, actively working toward a clean and safe work environment.
• Responsible for Good Manufacturing Practices compliance
• Able to meet all attendance requirements based on the company's Attendance Policy
• Effectively cooperate with direct supervision as well as maintain professional and cooperative relationships with peers.
• Be able to consistently lift up to 50 lbs.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent education experience.
• Two-year certificate from college or technical school; or six to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

• 1 to 3 years in a multi-shift manufacturing facility.
• Food production a plus.

Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to operate lathe, drill press, grinder and other tools in the fabrication and repair of equipment.
• Ability to operate arc and wire-feed welders.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
• Familiar with hydraulic and pneumatic driven controls and equipment.
• Proficient in computer applications to maintain computerized maintenance systems.
• Ability to service and repair VFD's, electric motors, starters and servo motors in a production environment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Must pass Company's forklift certification training.
• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Excellent communication skills necessary to interact with team members and leadership.
• Dependability and reliability.
• Ability to use a calculator to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Must be able to accurately record results.
• Safety awareness is a must.
• Ability to read, understand and comply with work directions, training manuals, safety rules, Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing Processes.
• Able to accurately complete appropriate paperwork for the duties of the position. Computer knowledge is helpful.
