Job Description:
This role will provide a $2,500 Sign-on bonus. We are currently hiring for a 12-hour Night Shift schedule.
The Maintenance Technicians are multi-skilled system experts in their assigned area, highly functional in multiple areas. They must ensure efficiency, operational conformance, product quality, and continuous improvement. The Technicians function as members of a maintenance team responsible for maintaining assets to a baseline state, including troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of machinery. Strong communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills are essential to support site objectives.
What are we looking for?
Education & Professional Qualifications
- Industrial Maintenance, Journeyman, or vocational schooling preferred. Experience with mechanical-electrical skills required.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with programs like Excel and Word.
Knowledge / Experience
- Self-Development: Ability to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities.
- Experience with machine shop tools, fabrication, welding, plumbing, or pipefitting is a plus but not required.
- Understanding of factory processes.
- Strong analytical, mechanical, and electrical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to transfer knowledge and train others.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Willingness to travel to other Royal Canin sites for equipment maintenance training.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform assigned activities within a line or area.
- Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
- Identify and solve problems to root cause.
- Assess equipment reliability and perform routine repairs and adjustments.
- Perform preventive maintenance as scheduled.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul equipment within close tolerances.
- Perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting on process and packaging equipment.
- Implement calibration procedures for equipment.
- Support operations with equipment setup, changeover, and operator training in Autonomous Maintenance activities.
- Understand maintenance scheduling, planning, and inventory management.
- Respond to reactive maintenance calls during the shift.
- Complete work orders according to schedule and close them properly.
- Communicate effectively with operators, peers, supervisors, and management daily.
- Support team efforts and perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain high safety and quality standards, including GMP, Hygiene, LOTO, Working at Heights, Confined Spaces, Electrical Worker Safety, and Workplace Transport policies.
- Operate a forklift and basic hand tools.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical diagrams, and P&ID diagrams.
- Show ownership, willingness to learn, and team support.
- Organize and care for tools and equipment properly.
- Work collaboratively, demonstrating initiative, reliability, and adaptability.
- Assist with training, SOP documentation, and preventive maintenance planning.
- Review spare parts and support sourcing of critical spares.
- Assist in creating Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
