Job summary

Hanes Companies in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a Maintenance Technician I responsible for maintaining Hanes Dye and Finishing, Geo Components, and facility equipment. The role focuses on preventative maintenance and high-quality standards.

You will work on pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical systems, boiler startup, and follow lock-out procedures. This position requires a team player attitude and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Fulltime on-site with benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems experience is essential.
• Prior machine maintenance experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Clean and inspect machines for worn, damaged, or misaligned parts.
• Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and replacements as needed.
• Respond to calls quickly and troubleshoot breakdowns to minimize downtime.
• Replace or rebuild worn components such as belts, bearings, gearboxes, and pumps.
• Perform boiler startup, blowdown procedures, and facility water treatment.
• Follow Lock-out Tag-out procedures during maintenance work.
• Multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Maintain general housekeeping, communication, and safe work practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Manager.

Function

Maintenance Technician I is responsible for maintaining all Hanes Dye and Finishing, Geo Components, and facility equipment. Maintenance Tech I oversees performing routine preventative facility and machine maintenance and maintains a high-quality standard through good preventative maintenance practices.

Duties

• Clean and inspect machines for worn, damaged, or misaligned parts.
• Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and replacements as needed.
• Working knowledge of pneumatic systems, fluid handling, and electrical systems.
• Respond to calls in a timely manner and quickly troubleshoot manufacturing breakdowns to prevent unnecessary downtime.
• Replace or rebuild worn guides, belts, bearings, gearboxes, and pumps.
• Perform Boiler startup, blowdown procedure, and facility water treatment.
• Follow Lock-out Tag-out procedures when working on equipment.
• Must be able to multi‑task in a high paced manufacturing environment.
• General housekeeping, communication, and safe work practices.
• Perform other duties that may be assigned by Manager.

Hours of Work

• 1st Shift – 7 a.m.–3 p.m. 2nd Shift – 4 p.m.–12 a.m. (May vary due to production requirements)

Requirements

• Must be a team player, and willing to assist in other areas when necessary.
• Pneumatic and Hydraulic experience required.
• Machine maintenance experience required.
• Basic electrical experience preferred.
• Pipefitting experience preferred.
• HVAC experience preferred.
• Facilities maintenance experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED.
