Job summary

Daisy Brand in Wooster, OH is seeking Maintenance Technicians to operate and maintain a 24/7 production line with a strong emphasis on safety and quality. You will work with state‑of‑the‑art equipment and collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations to keep fillers, case packers, palletizers and utilities running efficiently.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School or GED; technical certs preferred.
  • Electrical schematics understanding and 480V 3‑phase trouble-shooting.
  • Mechanical aptitude with welding, pumps, valves and gearboxes.
  • Controls knowledge including Allen Bradley PLCs.
  • Manufacturing experience with conveyors and utilities.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain highly technical automated equipment in a 24/7 plant.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and control systems and support utilities.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering and Operations to solve problems.
  • Follow GMP and safety protocols; perform general building maintenance as needed.

Position Summary

We are looking for motivated individuals who are detail-oriented and exhibit a strong desire to learn and grow. While managing a 24/7 production operation, the Daisy Brand Maintenance Team strives to provide a work-life balance with an average of 45 hours/week. Come work with state-of-the-art equipment where there are opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Maintenance Technicians are responsible for efficient and safe operation of all areas of the plant. This includes processing, packaging, warehouse, and the utilities that support all areas of the plant. Technicians will frequently collaborate and solve problems with Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations.
The ideal candidate will be well rounded in electrical, mechanical, and controls. The Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining highly technical and automated equipment to include fillers, case packers, and palletizers, also to include process systems, ammonia refrigeration equipment, high-pressure boilers, air compressors, and other building utilities.

Other Duties
  • Follow Daisy Brand food safety and quality protocols.
  • Follow GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), housekeeping and safe work practices.
  • Other duties as assigned, including general building maintenance.
Qualifications And Requirements

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. required. Additional technical certifications are preferred.
  • Electrical
    • Understanding of electrical schematics and documentation
    • 480V 3 phase troubleshooting and wiring
    • Low voltage controls
    • VFDs and servos
  • Mechanical
    • Welding to include: MIG, TIG, and Arc
    • Pumps, valves, gearboxes
    • Strong mechanical aptitude
    • Pneumatic and hydraulic systems operation
    • Mill and lathe
  • Controls
    • Allen Bradley PLC knowledge to include SLC 500, PLC 5 and Logix 5000 (troubleshooting and program understanding)
  • Manufacturing
    • Familiar with conveyors, palletizing equipment, case packers preferred
    • Utilities boilers, air compressors, and ammonia refrigeration
    • Waste water systems
Skills and Competencies
  • Must be able to understand and follow all GMP and Safety requirements.
  • Proficiency in maintenance management software (CMMS) preferred.
  • Experience in food/dairy production environment preferred.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, lift, and twist throughout shift.
  • Must be able to multitask while working with a team.
Compensation
  • Competitive pay, based on experience and qualifications.
  • 10% premium pay for off-hours work.
  • 15% premium pay for weekend work.
