Job summary

City of Winchester is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Worker to assist with routine plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC repairs, and to maintain parking lots and sidewalks, including during winter weather events.

Education and/or experience: high school diploma or GED plus some maintenance experience; a valid driver’s license. The City is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Responsibilities

• Assist with routine plumbing repairs.
• Assist with routine electrical repairs.
• Assist with routine carpentry repairs.
• Assist with routine HVAC repairs.
• Maintain parking lots, streets & sidewalks during winter/weather events.
• Assist in special events.
• Provide exceptional external & internal customer service to Citizens of Winchester & fellow employees.
• Ensure equipment, tools and supplies are cleaned, stored, and secured.
• Sweep/blow parking lots and sidewalks when needed.
• Assist in other areas of Facilities Maintenance as needed.
• Be on-call nights and weekends as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists with routine Plumbing repairs
• Assists with routine Electric repairs
• Assists with routine Carpentry repairs
• Assists with routine HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning) repairs
• Maintain parking lots, streets & sidewalks during winter/weather events (including12 hour shifts possibly nights, weekends & holidays)
• Special Events (i.e. Loudoun Street Mall & Shenandoah Valley Apple Blossom Festival)
• Perform exceptional external & internal customer service to the Citizens of Winchester & fellow employees
• Ensures equipment, tools and supplies are properly cleaned, stored, and secured
• Responsible for sweeping, blowing parking lots, Loudoun Mall and sidewalks when needed
• Assist in other areas of Facilities Maintenance (including Parking Authority) as needed
• Responsible for taking FM phone and being on-call nights and weekends as assigned

Requirements

Education and/or Experience: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required with some experience in construction/maintenance activities as related to buildings and grounds.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Possession of a valid and appropriate driver’s license.
