Overview

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

Perform routine and specific maintenance services, which may include grounds work.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Perform general maintenance and repair to facility and equipment, which may involve plumbing, carpentry, painting, and mechanical equipment repair or similar tasks.
• Act as backup for the call person in case of emergency, responding timely and appropriately.
• Handle all equipment safely to prevent accidents, demonstrating good working knowledge of tools and their safe use.
• Operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Follow preventive maintenance schedules and instructions, completing reports as requested.
• Inspect and maintain emergency power equipment, test/start generator weekly, and maintain equipment; inspect and maintain fire alarm systems, including testing systems, fire doors, audible alarms, visible alarms (lights), and smoke detectors, recording data on appropriate forms as required by state or facility; check extinguishers monthly; inspect and maintain lighting systems throughout the facility.
• Inspect and maintain plumbing systems, replacing or repairing faucets, toilets, urinals, traps, drains, basins, and bathtubs as needed; repair or refinish furniture in rooms, offices, and dining areas as needed.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

• Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in maintenance or facility operations required.
• Knowledge of standard practices, procedures, and tools in the general building/maintenance trades preferred.
