Job summary

Cul-Mac is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Michigan to diagnose equipment issues, perform preventive maintenance, and respond to breakdowns on bottle-filling and packaging lines. This is a full-time position with a 4:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.

Qualifications

  • Manufacturing maintenance experience required.

  • Forklift experience preferred; training may be provided.
  • No journeyman, licensed electrician, HVAC, or personal-toolbox requirement has been specified.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical problems affecting production equipment.
  • Respond promptly to emergency equipment breakdowns and restore safe operation.
  • Complete preventive maintenance tasks according to the established PM schedule.
  • Inspect equipment condition and identify developing issues before failure when possible.
  • Maintain and repair bottle-filling and packaging equipment.
  • Repair conveyors, palletizers, case sealers, and box erectors.
  • Troubleshoot pneumatics, hydraulics, pumps, motors, and gearboxes.
  • Assist with PLC and electrical diagnostics within training and qualifications.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, and PVC or steel pipe-fitting work when qualified.
  • Operate a forklift when trained and authorized.
  • Communicate repair status, equipment concerns, and maintenance needs to appropriate personnel.

Job description

SUMMARY

The Maintenance Technician supports Cul-Mac manufacturing operations by diagnosing equipment issues, completing scheduled preventive maintenance, responding to emergency breakdowns, and repairing production and packaging equipment. This is a full-time, temp-to-permanent position.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Previous maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment is required. Experience with bottle-filling and packaging equipment is strongly preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to work independently and demonstrate dependable leadership and sound judgment.
  • Forklift experience is preferred; training may be provided.
  • No journeyman, licensed electrician, HVAC, or personal-toolbox requirement has been specified.
  • Must be available for occasional weekend coverage when requested; this position is not on-call.
KNOWLEDGE
  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, pneumatics, hydraulics, pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, and packaging systems.
REQUIRED ABILITIES

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Fabrication, welding, and PVC or steel pipe-fitting experience are considered assets.

WORK SCHEDULE
  • Monday through Thursday, 4:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.; on average of approximately 40 hours per week.
  • Weekend coverage may occasionally be requested. No on-call rotation.
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Follow all company safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout requirements and personal protective equipment rules.
  • De-energize and secure equipment before service and report unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Operate forklifts and other powered equipment only when trained and authorized.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND DEMANDS

SUSTAINED REQUIREMENTS

  • Standing, walking, bending, reaching, and general movement throughout the production area
  • Hands-on maintenance, inspection, and repair work
FREQUENT REQUIREMENTS
  • Move between production areas and equipment to diagnose and complete repairs
  • Use tools and reposition parts or materials as required for maintenance tasks
  • Climb, kneel, crouch, and reach as needed to access equipment
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Indoor manufacturing and production environment
  • Exposure to active machinery, electrical components, and moving equipment
  • Production noise, changing priorities, and emergency repair situations
  • Independent work as well as coordination with production personnel
  • Occasional weekend coverage may be requested
