Job summary

AMETEK SMP Wallingford is seeking a maintenance technician to perform maintenance on production equipment and facilities in a food-manufacturing environment.

The role is on the day shift from 7a to 3p and involves maintaining mechanical systems, troubleshooting drives, and performing basic shop tasks. A HS diploma and 2–3 years of industrial maintenance experience are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma is required.
  • 2–3 years of experience maintaining industrial equipment.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and repairs all mechanical equipment in facility.
  • Inspects, repairs and overhauls drives, motors, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, MCC devices, conveyors.
  • Performs basic machine shop duties: grinding, drilling, fabrication, welding, machining.
  • Installs and maintains equipment and control systems.
  • Troubleshoots motor control centers and electro-mechanical drives.
  • Active for rotating on-call duty during weekends.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position will be on day shift from 7a - 3p!

AMETEK is seeking a highly motivated maintenance technician. The maintenance technician is responsible for performing maintenance on production equipment and facilities including the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintains and repairs all mechanical equipment in facility.
  • Inspects, repairs and performs overhauls on mechanicaldrives/motors, motors, pneumatic and hydraulic components, motor controlcenter devices, and conveyor systems.
  • Performs basicmachine shop duties such as grinding, drilling, metal fabrication,welding and machining.
  • Conducts basicinstallation, maintenance, and modification on equipment and controlsystems.
  • Performstroubleshooting and repair of motor control centers,electro-mechanical drives and sub-electrical panels using volt-ohm-amp meters.
  • Available for rotating on call duty during weekends to address emergencies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS
  • Skilled in theuse of tools, machines and testing instruments used in the repair andoverhaul of plant equipment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the basic operating principles ofelectrical, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic/vacuum systems andcomponents.
  • Knowledge ofoccupational hazards, safety precautions and inspection techniques ofrepairing and operating equipment in a food-manufacturing environment.
  • Ability toread, interpret and work from blue prints, technical sketches, manuals,and schematics in repair and overhaul of equipment and facilities.
  • Ability andwillingness to use knowledge, creativity, and initiative in continuouslyimproving bottom line results.
  • Ability andwillingness to further develop skills and ability through formaleducation and practical internal and external training programs.
  • Elementaryunderstanding of basic electrical maintenance with PLC and repair.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma.
  • 2-3 years experience in the maintenance and repair of industrial equipment preferably in a steel processing environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • This position requires walking, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Ability to work around and on industrial equipment.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment (e.g., forklift, scissor lift, front-end loader, payloader)
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Must be willing to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Required to work in a production area. The noise level in the work environment varies from moderate to excessive and may require PPE. The production area is not climate controlled.

Salary Minimum: 70,000
