Job summary

ALTOR is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Technician to uphold building and process equipment in Vernon, CA. You will service hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, mechanical, and electrical systems on production machines, ensuring safety and reliability.

You will perform preventative maintenance, assist with diagnostics, and coordinate with suppliers and internal teams. The role requires self-motivation, good time management, and adherence to safety standards in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Two-year technical certificate preferred.
• Three years of related maintenance experience; associates level may have developed trade expertise.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance on building and machines, troubleshoot root causes and perform preventative maintenance on plant equipment including forklifts.
• Maintain machinery by cleaning, lubricating, greasing and inspecting for optimum operation.
• Assist in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
• Perform minor electrical work and assist in carpentry and plumbing as needed, under supervision.
• Assist with servicing and replacing minor plumbing fixtures and maintaining related components.
• Apply finishes to surfaces to protect and beautify them.
• Set up and store production molds per procedures.
• Maintain fill guns and ejectors through testing, cleaning and inspection.
• Collect, test and report water samples for process parameters.
• Follow job specs, task lists and complete paperwork; implement preventive maintenance program.
• Adhere to safety protocols including lockout/tagout and PPE usage.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep of building and grounds, installation, maintenance, repair of hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, mechanical, and electrical systems on all production machines, equipment, and building. The role may require inventorying maintenance parts & supplies and interacting with suppliers and internal personnel. The incumbent must be a self‑starter, good at time management, work independently, and comply with Altor Solutions’ safety and conduct standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance duties on building and machines, including troubleshooting to determine root cause and best repair method, and performing preventative maintenance on plant machines and fork trucks.
• Maintain machinery, equipment and tools by cleaning, lubricating, greasing and/or oiling to ensure optimum working order.
• Assist workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
• Perform minor electrical work that does not require a licensed electrician, such as replacing light bulbs and fuses; assist in minor carpentry and repair work. If licensed, perform routine repairs to electrically powered equipment according to instructions from senior technicians, supervisors, or service manuals.
• Assist with servicing and replacing minor plumbing fixtures.
• Apply paint, varnish, and stain to all types of surfaces to protect and beautify them.
• Set up, remove, and store production molds in accordance with documented procedures.
• Maintain usable fill guns and ejectors through bench testing, cleaning, rebuilding, and inspecting.
• Collect, test and report water samples for hardness, pH, and other parameters at various stages of the process.
• Follow plant–specified job specifications, task lists, and complete all required paperwork.
• Implement and execute a preventative and predictive maintenance program to maintain equipment reliability.
• Conduct oneself safely, adhering to all safety protocols and policies, including lockout/tagout.
• Wear personal protective equipment properly and comply with company safety standards.
• Keep the area around the workstation clean and free from dirt and debris, cleaning assigned areas as instructed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two‑year degree or technical certificate preferred.
• Three years of related experience; associates level expected to have developed a trade of expertise and ability to work independently.
• Experience with MRP/ERP work order processes.
• Experience monitoring and maintaining low‑pressure boilers, air compressors, air driers, and vacuum pumps.
• Experience maintaining forklifts.
• Proficiency in reading schematics to troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues.
• Willingness to work assigned shifts, including overtime and after‑hour meetings as needed.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.

Position Level Guidelines

• Entry: 0 – 2 years
• Mid: 2 – 4 years
• Expert: 4 – 6 years
• Senior: 6+ years

Physical Demands

The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds and push or pull up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision; the employee must be able to identify defects and fix or repair fabricated parts and machinery. The employee regularly sits, stands, walks, uses hands and fingers, talks, and hears. The employee frequently reaches, stoops, bends, squats, stretches, and twists. The employee routinely stands and walks. The employee must be able to work with machinery and hand tools, use a ladder, and wear personal protective equipment such as hearing protection, safety glasses, steel‑toe shoes, and gloves.

Work Environment

The work environment is typical of most manufacturing settings with proximity to other production associates, materials, and machinery. Noise levels are moderate to high, requiring ear protection. The employee is exposed to moderate heat, cold, and noise, and may encounter wet or damp conditions.
