Position Description and Purpose: Founded in 1923 and headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Roskam Foods is a leading contract manufacturer that partners with world‑renowned food brands, retailers, and food service providers to produce a myriad of frozen, refrigerated and shelf‑stable products. We’re a scaled, diversified operation with over 2million square feet of manufacturing and 50 production lines across 8 facilities in the U.S. and Canada.
Responsibilities
- Perform intermediate‑level preventive maintenance and repairs on production equipment, including conveyors, ovens, freezers, pumps, motors, and packaging systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems with minimal supervision.
- Support and lead equipment changeovers, ensuring minimal downtime and compliance with sanitation protocols.
- Calibrate and adjust sensors, scales and automated systems to maintain product quality.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records in the CMMS and report recurring issues or potential failures.
- Assist in training and mentoring Maintenance TechnicianI team members.
- Assist parts‑room personnel in maintaining key equipment spare parts inventory.
- Participate in root‑cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with GMPs, HACCP, SQF and all safety protocols including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined‑space entry, and PPE usage.
- Collaborate with production and sanitation teams to ensure equipment readiness and reliability.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas and tools.
- Conduct advanced troubleshooting of conveyors, ovens, freezers, baggers, wrappers, pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors and ammonia systems.
- Perform calibration and diagnostics of packaging and palletizing equipment.
- Support utilities systems, including compressed‑air and refrigeration.
- Enforce all food‑safety requirements within the plant.
- Ensure tools and equipment are accounted for and cleaned and sanitized after use.
- Assist production and sanitation with customer‑complaint issues.
- Work with the Business Unit Manager and Quality Technical Manager to identify quality, food‑safety or regulatory issues at assigned facilities.
- Ensure the facility is ready for third‑party or customer inspections.
- Other duties as identified or assigned by the Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Supervisor.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, SQF, OSHA standards and other legal requirements for the food industry.
- Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and mentoring skills.
