Job summary

Roskam Foods, a Grand Rapids-based contract manufacturer, seeks a Maintenance Technician to support automation and production equipment across facilities. You will troubleshoot electrical control systems, coordinate with maintenance teams, and uphold safety, GMP, and quality standards.

Requirements: high school diploma or GED; 1+ year in maintenance or automation; familiarity with PLCs (Rockwell preferred); basic MS Office.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year in maintenance or automation troubleshooting, maintaining, or building electrical control systems in automated equipment.
• Familiarity with PLC systems; Rockwell Automation preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Basic troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of manufacturing automation control systems
• Collaborate with maintenance, facilities, and vendors to resolve production issues
• Adhere to safety, PPE, GMP, and food safety regulations
• Maintain familiarity with layout, processes, products, and equipment of one or two facilities
• Document control system changes and problem resolutions
• Complete required compliance training annually
• Complete preventative maintenance (PM) tasks as assigned

Key Responsibilities

• Basic troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of manufacturing automation control systems
• Collaborate with maintenance, facilities, and vendors to resolve production issues
• Adhere to all company safety, PPE, GMP, and food safety regulations
• Maintain familiarity with the layout, processes, products, and equipment of one or two facilities
• Use the inventory system to locate controls spare parts
• Maintain regular communication with supervisor
• Document control system changes and problem resolutions
• Arrive and depart according to scheduled work hours unless otherwise approved
• Complete required compliance training annually
• Complete preventative maintenance (PM) tasks as assigned

Technical Skills & Knowledge

• Ability to read and interpret basic electrical schematics and technical documentation
• Skilled in the safe and correct use of tools such as multimeters, computers, and basic hand tools
• Proficient in troubleshooting basic AC and DC circuits
• Ability to troubleshoot motors controlled by contactors, VFD's and servos
• Basic understanding of industrial communication networks
• Basic understanding of safety circuits
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)

• Clear and professional communication with peers, operators, and supervisors
• Team-oriented mindset with the ability to take direction
• Self-motivated to complete tasks efficiently

Required

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 1 year of maintenance or technical experience troubleshooting, maintaining, or building electrical control systems in automated production equipment
• Familiarity with PLC systems (Rockwell Automation products preferred)

Preferred

• Associate degree or certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or related field
