Job summary

The Dermot Company, LP, is a fully integrated real estate enterprise with 30+ years of experience, managing luxury multi-family properties in New York City and Florida. This full-time, on-site Maintenance Technician role supports our Palm Beach Gardens property, working Monday–Friday 8am–5pm with on-call emergency coverage.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in building maintenance and mechanicals.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with luxury, multi-family properties.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • EPA Section 608 certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days; HVAC certification strongly preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of safety rules and regulations.
  • Available for 24-hour maintenance emergencies as needed.
  • Exceptional customer service and follow-through.
  • Able to lift 50–100 lbs and work around residents and in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the property is pristine, safe, and meets Dermot standards and resident expectations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to residents.
  • Diagnose and repair maintenance issues across units, common areas, and exterior spaces (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC, appliances, pool).
  • Aim to complete service requests within 24 hours.
  • Keep apartments move-in ready per Dermot guidelines.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and aesthetically pleasing surroundings.
  • Inspect building systems to ensure proper performance.
  • Report issues to Resident Manager/General Manager and respond to emergencies.

This is a full-time position that supports our Palm Beach Gardens property.

The Dermot Company is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician. Reporting to the General Manager, the maintenance technician will work with the property team to uphold the community’s aesthetic and ensure a safe living environment for the residents.

This is a full-time, on-site position at our South Florida, Palm Beach Gardens location. The primary work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8am to 5pm, plus availability for emergency on-call responsibilities as required.

Responsibilities Include
  • Ensure that the property is in pristine and safe condition meeting Dermot standards and resident expectations
  • Offer exceptional customer service to our residents
  • Diagnose and solve maintenance issues as needed in apartment homes, the common areas, and the exterior areas of the property; the work will range from plumbing, electrical, general carpentry, painting, and addressing HVAC, appliance and pool maintenance issues.
  • Aim to complete all service requests within 24 hours
  • Ensure apartments are move-in ready for new residents following Dermot guidelines
  • Maintain clean, safe and aesthetically pleasing surroundings to meet Dermot’s brand standards
  • Monitor, maintain and keep secure inventory of equipment, supplies and tools
  • Routinely inspect building mechanical systems (e.g., air conditioning and boilers) and equipment to ensure proper performance and maintenance
  • Perform all services in compliance with Dermot policies and procedures, safety and health regulations, and applicable laws (e.g., Fair Housing Laws)
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with the maintenance team; report all issues to the Resident Manager/General Manager
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests as needed
  • Complete preventative maintenance to enhance the safety and management of the property and reduce risks and emergencies
  • Assist in maintaining records of scheduled maintenance procedures
  • Complete and participate in training as needed
  • Complete projects and tasks assigned by the Resident Manager and General Manager
About You And What You Offer
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in building maintenance and mechanicals
  • Successful track record of contributing to property teams in a related role for luxury, multi-family properties (minimum 2 yrs)
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • A valid EPA Section 608 certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days of employment; HVAC certification is strongly preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Have a working knowledge of safety rules and regulations
  • Available and willing to answer 24-hour maintenance emergency calls as needed
  • Exceptional customer service and follow-through skills
  • Comfortable working with competing priorities
  • Have stellar references and a consistent employment history
  • Must be able to work for any employer in the US without any restrictions whatsoever
  • Other requirements: The ability to lift 50-100 lbs regularly, ascend and descend ladders, listen and react to sounds, be comfortable working around residents including children, wear protective gear as needed, be able to position oneself in confined spaces to complete repairs and use technology for reporting and communicating purposes.
