Job Description

The Mechanic Technician performs all maintenance work as assigned by the Maintenance Planner and/or the Maintenance Lead or Advisor according to the specifications outlined in applicable Visual Work Instruction and proactive maintenance techniques. Additionally, the Technician is responsible for responding to production calls when needed. The Technician performs each assignment using the appropriate replacement parts and coordinates the schedule for the work with the Maintenance Team Leader and production leadership as needed. The Technician performs work to maximize process reliability and minimize negative impacts on production schedules.

Essential Functions
  • Perform all process CP, CCP, QP, and CQP checks required for the position.
  • Follow reaction plans for Food Safety, Food Quality and customer requirement deviations.
  • Be able to identify and understand customer requirements and assist in assuring proper production operation.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and good housekeeping guidelines.
  • Follow safety guidelines, wear designated Personal Protective Equipment, conform to regulatory requirements, and assure Food Safety measures are followed.
  • Perform maintenance work within the allocation of time needed to complete.
  • Document all work performed and parts used in CMMS.
  • Modify, fabricate and upgrade production equipment following process change procedure if applicable.
  • Perform identified corrective work as assigned.
  • Implement and complete preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Use preventive and predictive maintenance techniques and tools to generate corrective work requests and improve equipment reliability.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and repair activities.
  • Identify parts, supplies, and tools needed for follow up corrective work or as needed.
  • Track and report pertinent performance metric information to assist in creating action plans and improvement ideas based on the tracking data.
  • Continue training as directed for certification levels and to stay current in maintenance techniques.
Predictive Tools

Examples include Ultrasonic, Infrared, oil analysis, vibration analysis tools, and laser alignment tools.

Position Level

Maintenance Mechanic Technician Level 1 or 2 depending on skill.

Required Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with maintenance knowledge and/or experience.
  • Recent experience as an RGB Maintenance Mechanic (the last 30 days).
  • Alternative consideration for experienced plant operators with maintenance exposure if no qualified internal partners.
Required Skills
  • Perform at the described skill level to attain and retain level certification.
  • Continue learning to achieve certification or required skills and abilities dictated by company needs.
  • Communicate effectively with leadership, vendors, contractors, other maintenance partners, and line operators via phone, fax, email, text, and person-to-person.
  • Peer-to-peer training assignment as needed and directed for Level 1 and 2 technicians.
Schedule & Overtime

Position is scheduled based on shift needs. Overtime may be expected if workload requires it.

Training & Testing

Applicants must demonstrate success in training courses, pass the company’s testing requirement (behavior assessment and local plant technical tests), and meet all other Schreiber bid qualifications.

Language Requirement

Applicants must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, including speaking, reading and writing.
