Job summary

Tecumseh Public Schools is seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Technician to support upkeep and functionality of school buildings and grounds. This role ensures our schools are safe, clean, and fully operational for students, staff, and the community.

The position is an hourly, non-exempt, full-time role with a 2:00 PM-10:30 PM shift. Salary ranges from $17.68 to $20.80 per hour and includes responsibilities such as responding to work orders and mentoring new staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) years of facilities maintenance or related work experience.
• Excellent mechanical and electrical aptitude with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and drywall repair knowledge.
• Electrical and HVAC licenses preferred.
• Ability to lift and balance 60 lbs.
• Reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine and preventative maintenance, repair, and installation of minor facility plumbing, electrical wiring, carpentry, painting, etc.
• Respond to work orders and emergency maintenance requests.
• Document service requests in a timely manner.
• Maintain clean and safe working environment.
• Identify and report building deficiencies to the Director of Facilities & Maintenance.
• Track and maintain tools, supplies, and equipment for ready use.
• Mentor and assist in training new staff.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and the community.
• Attend mandatory staff meetings, events, or trainings.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Director.

General Information/Duties:

• Conduct routine and preventative maintenance, repair, and installation of minor facility plumbing, electrical wiring, carpentry, painting, etc.
• Respond to work orders and emergency maintenance requests.
• Thoroughly completes and documents service requests in a timely manner.
• Maintains cleanliness and safe working environment while completing tasks.
• Identifies and reports building deficiencies to Director of Facilities & Maintenance while taking proper safety precautions for students, staff, and community.
• Tracks and maintains tools, supplies, and equipment for ready use and operation.
• Mentors and assists in the training and monitoring of new staff.
• Effectively and consistently communicate and interact with students, staff, parents, and the community
• Attend all mandatory staff meetings, events, or trainings
• Other duties as assigned by the Operations Director

Qualifications:

• High moral character, integrity, and strong interpersonal communication skills
• Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day with frequent, prolonged standing/walking/moving
• Must be able to read and speak English
• At least 2 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
• High School/Trade School degree preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required

Terms of Employment:

Hourly 2:00 PM- 10:30 PM, non-exempt position, full-time year-round position.

Salary: $17.68 to $20.80 Per Hour
