Maintenance Technician

Big Bend Hospice,located in Tallahassee is seeking skilled candidates for the position of Maintenance/Facilities Technician.The Facilities Technician ensures the efficient operation of all Big Bend Hospice facilities by performing maintenance, repairs, and inspections of buildings, equipment, and grounds. This role is critical in maintaining a safe, compliant, and welcoming environment for patients, families, and staff, supporting our mission of compassionate care.

Duties include but aren't limited to general maintenance and repairs, environmental safety, groundskeeping, emergency response, equipment management, inventory and supply tracking, maintaining appropriate records and documentation, fleet vehicle maintenance, and office and event support.

The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge in a variety of maintenance areas, be a strong communicator, have keen attention to detail, and demonstrated ability to work independently with initiative and timeliness.

Qualifications and Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Extensive knowledge of building systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC).
• Knowledge of safety and infection control standards in healthcare settings.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact sensitively with staff, patients, and families.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 2 years of facility maintenance experience required.
• Preferred certifications: OSHA training, EPA certification (for HVAC/refrigeration), or other relevant certifications.
