Job summary

Precision Strip, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician at our Talladega, AL plant to ensure continuous operation of machinery and equipment through planned and unplanned maintenance.

You will work to troubleshoot issues, perform preventive maintenance, and assist in installing and upgrading equipment. The role requires interpreting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical drawings, with experience in hydraulics, electrical systems, and fabrication.

Qualifications

• Will read and interpret mechanical, hydraulic and electrical drawings.
• Troubleshoot hydraulics (pumps, motors, valves, cylinders) and electrical (single phase, DC, PLC) systems.
• Experience with fabrication (welding, plasma, torch) and use of related tools.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate internally to schedule preventive maintenance and keep records.
• Maintain inventory of spare parts, supplies, and equipment to minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot root causes of unplanned maintenance and perform adjustments as needed.
• Assist installation and upgrading of equipment and facilities.

Job description

As a Maintenance Technician you will ensure operation of machinery and equipment by performing highly diversified maintenance task (both planned and unplanned) at our Talladega, AL metal processing plant.

Every day as the Maintenance Technician you will...

• Collaborate internally and across PSI to schedule preventative maintenance and maintain records appropriately
• Ensure appropriate inventory of spare parts, supplies, and equipment necessary to complete jobs effectively and eliminate downtime
• Troubleshoot the root cause for the unplanned maintenance repair and make adjustments as needed
• Assist the installation and assembly of new equipment and the improvement to equipment and facilities

To thrive in this role, you must...

• Be willing to work Monday-Friday from 5pm - 5am and be readily available for emergency repairs in breakdown situations outside of your normal hours
• Able to read and interpret mechanical, hydraulic and electrical drawings
• Have in depth knowledge and ability to troubleshoot hydraulics (pumps, motors, valves, cylinders) and electrical (single phase, DC circuits, PLC, knowledge of three phase, use multi-meter)
• Have in depth knowledge and experience with fabrication (welding, plasma, torch experience)
• Communicate effectively with all levels of organization and between shifts
• Support others to accomplish goals by responding with professionalism and having a strong sense of urgency to make reasonable decisions and swiftly refer to appropriate level if needed
• Looks for ways to continuously improve processes by anticipating problems, seeking best answers and exploring multiple possibilities to offer solutions
• Have proven maintenance experience preferably in manufacturing environment with preferably an accreditation from a technical school or applicable skills trade program
