Job summary

New Story Schools is seeking a Maintenance Technician to help create safe, functional, and welcoming learning environments for students and staff in State College and Dubois. The majority of the role will be at the State College site with time spent at the Dubois location.

You will perform general repairs, preventative maintenance, and facility improvements to keep our schools running smoothly. Strong communication, safety awareness, and the ability to travel between campuses are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of experience in general maintenance or repair services.
• Basic knowledge of drywall repair, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform general repairs, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and safety inspections across school facilities.
• Maintain building grounds, equipment, and tools to ensure operational readiness.
• Address and resolve maintenance requests promptly to prevent safety hazards.
• Support snow removal, landscaping, and facility upkeep throughout the year.

As a Maintenance Technician at New Story Schools, you will help create and maintain safe, functional, and welcoming learning environments for students and staff. You will perform general repairs, preventive maintenance, and facility improvements that keep our schools running smoothly every day.

This position will split locations between New Story School in State College, and New Story School in Dubois. The home school (and majority of the role) will be spent at the State College location.

What You’ll Need

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least two years of experience in general maintenance or repair services
• Basic knowledge of drywall repair, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical systems
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between regional school sites
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and commitment to safety
