Job summary

Willcox Matthews Ltd. is seeking experienced Maintenance Technicians for a manufacturing operation in St. Louis, MO. The role involves fault finding across PLCs, electrical controls, CNC equipment, automation, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.

The position emphasizes diagnosing complex electrical faults, working with PLC ladder logic, and supporting automated production equipment on multiple shifts. Competitive base pay is provided with shift differential where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in Electronic Technology, Industrial Technology, PC Technology, or another relevant technical discipline with exposure to PLCs, relay controls, computer controls, hydraulics, or mechanical systems.
  • Experienced technicians may also be considered based on significant hands-on controls experience.
  • Candidates should have experience in PLC programming, electrical controls, schematics, servo motors, encoders, PC-based control systems, mechanical maintenance, welding and brazing.

Responsibilities

  • Install, rebuild, maintain, and troubleshoot production equipment and control systems.
  • Program, interpret, and troubleshoot PLC ladder logic.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and electronic control circuits.
  • Build and wire electrical control panels.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics on CNC equipment.
  • Troubleshoot servo motors, servo valves, encoders, and controller I/O.
  • Diagnose relays, switches, sensors, and power supplies.
  • Produce wiring harnesses and electrical solder joints.
  • Carry out welding and brazing related to equipment building and repair.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for experienced Maintenance Technicians to join an established manufacturing operation in St. Louis, Missouri.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong maintenance professional who enjoys fault finding and working across PLCs, electrical controls, CNC equipment, automation, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.

This is not a purely mechanical maintenance position. We are particularly interested in technicians who are confident diagnosing complex electrical and controls-related faults and working with PLC ladder logic and automated production equipment.

The Package

  • $40.62/hour base rate
  • Additional shift differential where applicable
  • Approximately $84,490 annual base earnings at 40 hours per week
  • 1st, 2nd & 3rd shift opportunities available
  • Permanent, full-time position
  • Technically challenging position working across maintenance, controls, and automation

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, rebuild, maintain, and troubleshoot production equipment and control systems
  • Program, interpret, and troubleshoot PLC ladder logic
  • Troubleshoot electrical and electronic control circuits
  • Build and wire electrical control panels
  • Perform advanced diagnostics on CNC equipment
  • Troubleshoot servo motors, servo valves, encoders, and controller I/O
  • Diagnose relays, switches, proximity sensors, light curtains, optical readers, power supplies, and other industrial controls
  • Work with discrete and variable I/O and multiple interfacing control systems
  • Troubleshoot PC-based industrial controls, operating systems, network interfaces, data storage, and I/O
  • Read, interpret, and produce electrical circuit drawings and blueprints
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, controls, and safety equipment
  • Rebuild and modify manufacturing equipment
  • Complete mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other plant projects
  • Produce bills of materials and plan projects from initial requirements through completion
  • Perform general maintenance and repair across plant equipment and facilities
  • Produce wiring harnesses, electrical connectors, and high-quality electronic solder joints
  • Carry out welding and brazing associated with equipment building and repair
  • Use maintenance hand tools and appropriate toolroom machinery
  • Track equipment repair costs

What We’re Looking For

Ideally, you will have an Associate degree or higher in Electronic Technology, Industrial Technology, PC Technology, or another relevant technical discipline with exposure to PLCs, relay controls, computer controls, hydraulics, or mechanical systems.

Experienced technicians may also be considered based on significant hands-on controls experience.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in several of the following areas:

  • PLC programming and troubleshooting
  • Industrial electrical controls
  • Electrical schematics and circuit drawings
  • Servo motors and servo controls
  • Encoders and industrial sensors
  • PC-based control systems
  • Mechanical maintenance
  • Equipment rebuilding and repair

Candidates will also be required to complete forklift operation training and the applicable eye examination.
