Job summary

Big Idea Holdings, LLC is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Springfield, Ohio to ensure maintenance work and preventive maintenance are completed promptly under the Maintenance Supervisor. The role supports production uptime and reliability in a food-manufacturing setting.

You will troubleshoot and maintain production and facility systems (HVAC, boilers, safety systems), participate in safety initiatives, and comply with GMPs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a technical or maintenance role, ideally in food manufacturing or consumer goods.
• Knowledge of food safety and GMP requirements.
• Experience implementing or working with preventive maintenance programs.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work various shifts and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist group in troubleshooting, operating, and maintaining production systems and facilities (refrigeration, boilers, HVAC, safety systems, etc.).
• Lead root cause analysis and lean improvements to boost uptime and quality.
• Champion site safety objectives and ensure a safe working environment within the maintenance team.
• Implement and monitor an effective PM program; ensure timely completion of work orders and maintenance tasks.
• Direct, coordinate, and manage scheduled maintenance and machine changeovers with production.
• Support training needs and develop programs to upgrade maintenance skills and effectiveness.
• Maintain communication with counterparts at other facilities to share learnings and best practices.
• Adhere to food safety and GMP guidelines in all maintenance activities.

Job description

Title: Maintenance Technician Salary Range: $23.37 - $37.00 Hourly Status: Non Exempt Days/Shifts: Various Shift Available Location: Springfield, OH Reports to: Maintenance Manager

GENERAL DISCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring all assigned maintenance work and scheduled PM’s are completed in a timely fashion, under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS / DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

• Assist work group in troubleshooting, operating, and maintaining production systems and facilities systems at times which include refrigeration equipment, boilers, fire systems, HVAC equipment, wastewater, compressed air equipment, vacuum pump system, high voltage switch gear, and all production equipment. Lead root cause and lean exercises helping to impact production uptime and quality.
• Champion the site safety objectives through leadership and effective communications. Assist Site Leadership and Safety Management Representative in the implementation of any safety related projects, upgrades, or improvements. Ensure there exists within the maintenance team an attitude of absolute intolerance for unsafe situations.
• Assist work group to implement and monitor an effective PM program and monitor the program on existing equipment and new equipment acquisitions. Ensure that work orders and work assignments are completed in a timely fashion by the maintenance department.
• Maintain good human relations skills, communication skills, and leadership qualities with supervisors, peers, and subordinates.
• Direct, coordinate, and manage scheduled maintenance and machine changeovers in conjunction with scheduled production.
• Assist group in developing and meeting training needs and develop overall programs to upgrade operating and maintenance skills and effectiveness.
• Maintain dialogue with counterparts at other Dole facilities to benefit from experiences and design proposals.
• Follow all food safety requirements and GMP's guidelines.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a technical or maintenance role, preferably in food manufacturing or consumer goods industry.
• Strong technical skills.
• Knowledge of food processing and manufacturing technology.
• Basic knowledge of maintenance technologies and operation of utilities.
• Knowledge of food safety, regulatory requirements for food safety and hygienic engineering (OSH&R).
• Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written, verbal communication and relationship-building skills.
• Knowledge of Asset and Maintenance Management (AMM) and Industrial Services and Energy Management (NEMT).
• Ability to troubleshoot complex systems/problems.
• Ability to report to work promptly and regularly, work under the supervision of others, at times under stressful conditions, work within deadlines, and be able to work professionally with others at all times and in all situations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have the ability to maneuver around an array of equipment. Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, climb ladders and/or stairs.
• Will have some exposure to fumes and airborne particles.
• Must be able to work in a cold and wet environment.
