Job summary

Beacon Specialized Living seeks a Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform routine and preventive maintenance across Beacon homes in Minnesota. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and safety systems to ensure a safe, functional environment.

The role requires a high school diploma, 2+ years in facilities, a clean driving record, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred.
  • 2+ years in facilities, building maintenance, or related field.
  • Must pass criminal background check.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Proficient in speaking, reading and writing English.

Responsibilities

  • Always be compliant with all company and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, safety systems).
  • Ensure grounds are free of trash and debris.
  • Respond to work orders and emergency maintenance requests promptly.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify safety hazards, maintenance needs, and compliance issues.
  • Assist with carpentry, painting, flooring, and general building repairs.
  • Maintain grounds, including snow removal, lawn care, and minor landscaping as needed.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with external vendors or contractors for specialized repairs.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections in logs or work order systems.

Position Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine and preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Beacon homes to ensure a safe, functional, and efficient environment. This role supports day-to-day operations by maintaining facility standards and addressing maintenance issues in a timely manner.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Always be compliant with all company and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on building systems, equipment, and facilities (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, safety systems, etc.).
  • Ensure grounds are free of trash and debris.
  • Respond to work orders and emergency maintenance requests promptly.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify safety hazards, maintenance needs, and compliance issues.
  • Assist with basic carpentry, painting, flooring, and general building repairs.
  • Maintain grounds, including snow removal, lawn care, and minor landscaping as needed.

Education and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in facilities, building maintenance, or a related field.
  • Basic computer skills for work order systems and email communication.
  • Must pass criminal background check.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Proficient in speaking, reading and writing the English language.
  • Approved by state, federal and government entities to work within BSLS programs.
  • Ability to use office equipment, including BSLS information technology systems.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. May require on-call availability for emergency maintenance issues.
