Job Location: South Haven, MI 49090. Job Shift: Day Shift.
Position Summary: Maintenance Technician responsible for proactively performing routine maintenance inspections and general maintenance of equipment, facility, and grounds. Responsible for transporting products and handling deliveries in a timely manner. Must follow traffic laws, correctly route vehicles, ensuring the vehicle is fueled and in safe working condition.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance such as inspecting drives, motors, belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, and performing preventive maintenance actions.
- Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and detect problems.
- Repair machines, equipment, or structures using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, precision measuring instruments or electrical/electronic testing devices.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine corrective actions, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.
- Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work.
- Inventory and requisition machine parts, equipment, and supplies to keep stock replenished.
- Perform general cleaning of buildings or properties, including snow removal.
- Paint or repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, or other building structure parts.
- Operate vehicles, mechanized devices, or equipment such as forklifts or passenger vehicles.
- Use the company vehicle for on‑time deliveries and pick‑ups.
- Research and plan for traffic, construction, and weather conditions.
- Use navigation applications to determine the best route.
- Professionally represent the company in interactions with clients, vendors, and the public.
- Ensure vehicles are fueled, clean, and in good working order; report any maintenance concerns to the supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Required DOT Physical, Medical Exam and Chauffeur license.
- 5 years of previous work‑related skill, knowledge, or experience.
- Ability to maintain an acceptable driving record for auto insurance coverage.
- Ability to drive safely without distractions and troubleshoot routing and traffic.
- Ability to receive, track, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate channels.
- Microsoft Office: Spreadsheet, Word, Calendar, and Internet browser skills.
Physical Demands
- Regularly stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear.
- Frequently walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally sit.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts.
- Occasional exposure to high or precarious places, outdoor weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock.
- Noise level usually moderate.
