Job summary

Equus Workforce Solutions is seeking a maintenance technician to support the Job Corps program in Texas. The role involves performing routine repairs, painting, and preventive maintenance in a youth-centric environment, ensuring safety and compliance at all times.

You will report to the Maintenance Supervisor, complete work orders, and assist in training staff while keeping the facility clean, safe, and efficient.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One year of maintenance experience required.
• Experience working with youth.

Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, completes minor repairs such as patching holes, painting, repairs, furniture, doorknobs, locks, replacing light bulbs, and clearing obstructions in drains and toilets.
• Repairs washers, dryers, dishwashers, and small appliances.
• Report unsafe conditions to management.
• Complete paperwork accurately as instructed by your Maintenance Manager/Supervisor.
• Maintain safety equipment and follow safety policies and procedures.
• Assist in providing on-the-job training for employees.
• Complete work orders in a timely manner and produce quality work.
• Plan and organize assignments to meet goals and deadlines.
• Assist with center vehicle repairs and housekeeping duties as assigned.

Job Description

• As assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor, completes minor repairs such as patching holes, painting, repairs, furniture, doorknobs, locks, replacing light bulbs, replacing cover plates, and clearing obstructions in drains and toilets. Repairs washers, dryers, dishwashers, small appliances.
• Report any inefficient or unsafe conditions to management upon discovery of those conditions.
• Complete all paperwork accurately as instructed by your Maintenance Manager/Supervisor.
• Perform all work using safety equipment as instructed while obeying all safety-rules and procedures.
• Will work closely with the Maintenance Manager/Supervisor and co-workers continuously to maintain efficient operations.
• Assist in providing on-the-job training for employees.
• Completes work orders as assigned in a timely manner.
• Produces quality work/assignments in a thorough, timely and accurate manner.
• Plans, prioritizes, and organizes assignments to meet established goals and deadlines.
• Understands and applies job knowledge to effectively complete all required job responsibilities.
• Assists with facility inspections as directed.
• Assists in pest control as required.
• May complete purchase order ensuring receipt is obtained.
• Clears driveways and sidewalks of snow and uses appropriate materials to safeguard against slipping on ice.
• May be responsible for housekeeping duties as assigned.
• May assist with center vehicle repairs.
• Ability to work overtime as needed and participate in an on-call rotation.
• Clearly communicates and consistently models appropriate CSS and employability skills.
• Maintains accountability of staff, students, and property.
• Adheres to safety practices in all areas of responsibility.
• Fosters and sustains a conducive environment at the center, ensuring it remains free from harassment, intimidation, and disrespect, thereby ensuring a safe space for both staff and students to engage in work and learning.
• Attends all required staff training opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One year of maintenance experience required.
• Experience working with youth.

A valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
