Job summary

INDUS Technology, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician (Engineering Technician IV) in Coronado, CA to support Underwater Tracking Range Equipment used in US Navy testing and fleet readiness.

You will perform installation, maintenance, repair, testing, and documentation to ensure equipment is ready for range events and submarine/shipboard operations. Reporting to the Program Manager, you will manage pinger systems, update databases, and follow OM&S procedures while supporting multiple Navy

Qualifications

  • Active secret clearance required.
  • HS Diploma required.
  • 3 years of experience supporting Navy/DoD/defense contractor UTRE maintenance operations.
  • Experience with configuration management systems and CMMS.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support across UTRE from installation to repair and turnaround.
  • Maintains UTRE procedures and technical documentation for audit readiness.
  • Updates Pinger database (P2K) to keep records current.
  • Installs sonar transmitter systems (MK-30/MK-66) in range weapons.
  • Supports delivery and fielding of UTRE equipment to range locations.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs UTRE equipment to keep systems operational.
  • Ensures OM&S procedures are followed and supports pinger shop workflows.
  • Reviews workflows and suggests improvements to increase efficiency.

The Southern California (SOCAL) Fleet Operational Readiness Division, Code 25, manages the air, surface, submarine, and combat system test and analysis, weapon evaluation, mobile target, tactical exercise analysis, magnetic signature reduction, and range support programs assigned to the Department’s Southern California operations. Code 25 prepares, operates, maintains, and repairs underwater acoustic tracking instrumentation, mobile Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) targets MK 30, unmanned underwater vehicles and other ASW targets. They provide and conduct direct liaison with Southern California Offshore Range Extension (SCORE) and Fleet range users on matters dealing with underwater range scheduling, underwater tracking instrumentation, and technical support services for range/off-range operations. In addition, they perform aircraft, surface ship, and submarine shipboard electronic systems evaluation and radiated noise measurements, analysis, and reporting. They support the Department’s ship test and analysis functions in Southern California. They operate and maintain the San Clemente Island Underwater Range (SCIUR), Fleet Operational Readiness and Accuracy Check Site (FORACS) and Shipboard Electronics Systems Evaluation Facility (SESEF) ship test ranges in the Southern California area and the Magnetic Silencing Facility (MSF) treatment and measurement facilities.

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Maintenance Technician (Engineering Technician IV) provides technical support for the preparation, installation, maintenance, repair, testing, modification, and logistical support of Underwater Tracking Range Equipment (UTRE) used in support of U.S. Navy undersea warfare testing and fleet readiness operations. This position performs depot and intermediate-level maintenance on sonar transmitters, pinger systems, underwater tracking instrumentation, transducers, and associated support equipment to ensure operational readiness for fleet exercises and test events on the San Diego Detachment Support Services contract. This position is located inCoronado, CA.

What You'll Do
  • Provides technical support across all phases of the Underwater Tracking Range Equipment (UTRE) program, from installation and testing through repair and turnaround.
  • Maintains and updates UTRE procedures and other supporting technical documentation to keep records accurate and audit-ready.
  • Updates and maintains the Pinger database (Pinger 2000 data system, or P2K) to keep tracking and equipment records current.
  • Installs sonar transmitter systems (MK-30/MK-66 Pinger) in various exercise weapons used during range training events.
  • Supports delivery and fielding of UTRE equipment to range locations.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs UTRE equipment, diagnosing faults and returning systems to operational status.
  • Supports custom system configuration efforts within the pinger shop.
  • Supports pinger shop compliance with Operational Maintenance and Spares (OM&S) procedures.
  • Reviews pinger shop workflows and equipment turnaround processes on an ongoing basis and recommends improvements to increase efficiency and reliability.
  • Exercises technical judgment to diagnose and resolve equipment issues within established procedures and manufacturer/technical specifications, escalating issues outside normal troubleshooting parameters to engineering or program staff.
  • Performs equipment turnaround, troubleshooting and repair, system installations aboard submarines and exercise weapons, equipment certification, inventory management, technical documentation, and configuration control.
  • Maintains accurate maintenance records and equipment status within government databases, updates technical procedures, and supports custom equipment fabrication and system modifications.
  • Additional duties include supporting supply and warehouse operations, maintaining compliance with Operational Maintenance and Spares (OM&S) procedures, and providing technical support at multiple Navy installations throughout Southern California as required.
  • Bid and proposal support if requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • An active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
  • HS Diploma required.
  • Three (3) years of experience supporting U.S. Navy or equivalent military/industrial maintenance operations involving Underwater Tracking Range Equipment (UTRE), including the preparation, installation, removal, turnaround, testing, troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, upgrade, and modification of underwater tracking systems, pinger equipment, and associated electronic instrumentation.
  • Experience supporting Navy, DoD, or defense contractor maintenance operations is preferred.Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
  • Experience using configuration management systems and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess strong time management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
  • Travel Required 10% travel required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience using configuration management systems and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). MK-30 or MK-66 Pinger experience.
  • Familiarity with government applications such as CMPro, Pinger 2000 (P2K), WDS, ASM, ESAMS, and related maintenance databases.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Adult First Aid certification through the American Red Cross, or an equivalent certification.
  • Prefer prior Navy working in Advanced Electronics field (CT, ET, or FC). Similar for other branches of service. Due to timeliness, recommend only interviewing cleared candidates

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
  • The ability to lift items that may weigh up to 50 pounds.
  • The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, or recurring and considerable walking, stooping, bending, crouching, and climbing such as performing regular shop activities, inspections, or to observe and study operations in an industrial or comparable work area, or on-board ships, submarines, and/or in weapon facilities.
  • The ability to operate heavy machinery and industrial tools with limited to no supervision. Examples may include but are not limited to: Electric/Diesel Forklift, CNC Milling Machine, Welding/Soldering, CAT III Overhead Crane, pallet jack, "Big Joe" stand-behind pallet lift mechanism, and more.

INDUS aims to provide a competitive compensation package, including a strong pay for performance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this position is $32.53/hr - $34.00/hr.
