Restaurant Maintenance Technician

  • Maintenance Technician for 4 locations***


We are seeking a skilled and experienced Restaurant Equipment Repair Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in repairing and maintaining various types of restaurant equipment, including but not limited to ovens, grills, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, HVAC systems, general vehicle repair for both gas and diesel. The primary responsibility of the Restaurant Equipment Repair Technician is to ensure that all restaurant, commissary, and warehouse equipment is functioning efficiently to support the smooth operation of our establishments. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to work independently.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair issues with restaurant heating equipment, refrigeration systems, HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and gas and diesel engines.
  • Work independently to assess and resolve equipment malfunctions.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on restaurant equipment to prevent breakdowns and prolong lifespan.
  • Repair or replace defective parts in restaurant equipment, ensuring adherence to manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
  • Source parts and materials at competitive pricing while ensuring quality standards.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with ownership regarding budget considerations, spending, and preventative maintenance plans.
  • Install new restaurant equipment as needed, including hooking up electrical and plumbing connections.
  • Implement preventative maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Keep accurate records of repairs, maintenance tasks, and inventory of parts and tools.
  • Collaborate with ownership to develop and adhere to maintenance budgets for multiple restaurant and warehouse units.
  • Utilize computer skills for documentation, scheduling, and communication.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff and management to minimize disruption to restaurant operations during repair or maintenance activities.
  • Stay updated on the latest technology and best practices in restaurant equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Minor handyman repairs.


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in repairing and maintaining restaurant heating and refrigeration equipment, HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, and gas and diesel engines.
  • Must have a reliable work vehicle and own tools necessary for the job.
  • Strong knowledge of various types of restaurant equipment, including ovens, grills, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, and HVAC systems.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electrical, mechanical, and plumbing issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with restaurant staff and management.
  • Must speak and write English (bilingual a plus)
  • Proficient in using computers for record-keeping and communication.
  • Ability to present and discuss budgets and spending with ownership.
  • Previous experience in a multi-unit restaurant or warehouse environment is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Certification or training from a recognized technical school or apprenticeship program preferred.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment (up to 60 pounds) safely.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights (using ladders or scaffolding) as needed.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods.


Additional Requirements:

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to respond to emergency repair calls or perform scheduled maintenance.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
