Job summary

International UTC of Columbus is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform maintenance and repair of plant equipment, troubleshoot malfunctions, read drawings and electrical schematics, calibrate equipment, and ensure safe operating conditions.

You will work a 4x10 production schedule with potential Friday and weekend coverage and a $500 sign‑on bonus after 90 days, plus shift differential in the total compensation package.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years in a maintenance-related field preferred.
  • Completion of FAME AMT program or equivalent credential preferred.

Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for and involved in: Maintenance and repair of equipment; analyzing and troubleshooting malfunctions of equipment related to components, diagnosing and correcting the problems quickly; read and interpret drawings and electrical schematics; calibration of equipment (fluid, air and fan); understanding and troubleshooting safety and intrusion alarms inside paint booths; gun rebuilding (touch‑up guns, paint guns and BELLS); perform corrective and preventative work on all plant equipment; booth and oven air balancing; conveyor and reader knowledge.

External candidates hired into this role are eligible for a $500 sign‑on bonus upon successful completion of the 90‑day introductory period. Shift differential is also included in total compensation package.

International San Antonio Manufacturing Plant is a benchmark facility that builds leading‑edge commercial vehicles to meet the needs of today's and tomorrow's customers. This facility has the flexibility to build Class6‑8 trucks along with electric vehicles. Using the Internet of Things (IoT) and connected manufacturing principles, the newest manufacturing facility will continue growing our market share, optimizing our supplier network and improving quality.

The plant runs a 4x10 production schedule (Mon‑Thurs, 5:30AM‑4:00PM). This role will support production and may need to cover recovery times, including Fridays and weekends as needed.

Core Technical Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Analyzing and troubleshooting malfunctions of equipment related to components.
  • Diagnosing and correcting problems quickly.
  • Reading and interpreting drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Calibration of equipment (fluid, air, fan).
  • Understanding and troubleshooting safety and intrusion alarms in paint booths.
  • Gun rebuilding (touch‑up guns, paint guns and BELLS).
  • Perform corrective and preventative work on all plant equipment.
  • Booth and oven air balancing.
  • Conveyor and reader knowledge.
Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate overall safe work behavior, including the utilization of proper safety equipment and adherence to safety guidelines.
  • Work on hydraulic and pneumatic systems, paint and engine fluid process control systems, roll formers, plasma cutters, and resistance and MIG welding equipment along with other electro‑mechanical equipment.
  • Breakdown, clean, rebuild, troubleshoot, and repair pumps, air motors, welders, fluid power systems, gear drives, heavy industrial machinery and controls.
  • Apply mechanical/electrical aptitude and skills daily to solve production‑related problems.
  • Rebuild various equipment based on written and oral instructions.
  • Work with maintenance organization to resolve open issues.
  • Diagnose equipment failures at the system and component levels.
  • Work with team leaders to perform scheduled maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a maintenance‑related field.
  • Or successful completion of and graduation from the Texas Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (FAME) Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT) program.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on an unrestricted basis (U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).
  • Must have organization and effective communication skills with both technical and professional staff.
  • Must have flexibility to work a rotating weekly on‑call schedule and mandatory overtime rotation schedule.
Physical Requirements (up to 10 hours per day)
  • Walk, stand, sit, bend, twist/turn, kneel, squat, crawl.
  • Climb using both legs and arms.
  • Head/neck movement, reach outward or above the shoulder.
  • Drive or operate equipment such as lifts and motor vehicles.
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull 15–45 pounds.
  • Repetitive use of hands and fingers.
  • Use of vibrating tools.
  • Depth perception and ability to distinguish basic colors and shades.
  • Exposure to constant and intermittent noise, fumes, smoke, gases, solvents, paint, grease, oils, radiant energy, and slippery surfaces.
Desired Skills
  • Working knowledge of 480V, 277V, 240V, 208V, and 120/24V systems and ability to implement these voltages, including routing conduit, installing breaker panels, disconnects, transformers, lighting, and performing terminations without supervision.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and electro‑mechanical components.
  • Basic knowledge of industrial safety requirements related to hazardous, flammable, and explosive materials and environments.
  • Ability to self‑manage work priorities.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and offer solutions on all industrial systems.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance.
  • Ability to work efficiently with a sense of urgency.
  • Knowledge of INFOR and MTTR.
  • Ability to specify needed parts for equipment or process failures.
