Job summary

I.J. & Jeanné Wagner Jewish Community Center in Salt Lake City is seeking a full-time Facilities Maintenance team member to keep our facility safe and welcoming for members and guests.

You will handle daily tasks from evening closings, light repairs, pool and spa checks, to general cleaning, and assist staff as needed. This role requires reliability, basic maintenance skills, and a customer-service mindset.

Qualifications

• Experience in basic maintenance and related trade skills (plumbing, carpentry, painting).
• Desire to learn from others about maintaining a high-end property.
• Strong work ethic and reliability to serve members and staff.
• Ability to work outside in varying weather and perform cleaning duties.

Responsibilities

• Shutdowns: turn off lights, secure doors and gates at closing, check HVAC systems.
• Inspect pools and spa, monitor chemical balance and systems.
• Assist with vehicle maintenance, shop visits, and occasional washing.
• Perform minor repairs and general upkeep (hardware, plumbing, tile, grounds).
• Provide customer service to members and staff; follow safety procedures.

Job description

A full time position. Must be available Sundays (10:30 am to 7:00 pm) and Monday through Thursday (12:30 pm to 9:00 pm).

We are looking for an energetic self-starting person to join the Facilities Maintenance team at the Salt Lake City Jewish Community Center. You will provide our members and guests with the highest level of customer service while ensuring their safety in a fun and community-oriented environment. We take pride in providing a high level safety and comfort our community counts on when they come to our facility.

Duties & Responsibilities

Evening Closings

• Turning off lights, checking doors and gates at closing of the facility, checking HVAC Equipment throughout the facility
• Checking indoor as well as outdoor pools and the spa with chemical balance and systems checks.
• Vacuuming of the outdoor pool when in season, and assisting staff and members with duties as they are assigned.

• Preventative Maintenance and work orders to be completed throughout the day which are always subject to change.
• Fleet vehicle cleaning and maintenance, including taking vehicles into the shop for repairs and tire changes as needed, as well as the occasional trip to have vehicles washed.
• Provide customer service to all members, employees and guests.
• Execute minor repairs, hardware, plumbing, ceiling tile, grounds maintenance, etc.
• Cleaning, as required.
• Understand rules, policies, and procedures as stated in the safety manual, as well as how to respond to any and all emergencies.
• Assist fellow staff in tasks.
• All other assorted minor jobs assigned by the Supervisor/Manager.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Experience in basic maintenance knowledge, some plumbing, carpentry, painting, tools, equipment, etc. A high level of integrity and a good work ethic.
• Desire to work/learn from others about all the different aspects of maintaining a high end property.
• Desire to make lives of members and employees, who come to the JCC, just a little better, through excellent events, health and fitness, beautiful spaces and educational classes.
• Must be able to be outside in various weather conditions, and perform cleaning duties as assigned.

• Range: $18+ (depending on experience)
