Job summary

Global Ordnance LLC in Illinois seeks a Maintenance Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and support manufacturing equipment and facility systems in a defense manufacturing environment.

You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on metalworking and related equipment, read drawings, and cooperate with electricians and contractors as needed. Stay compliant with ITAR/FAR and safety standards to minimize downtime.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and supporting the safe and reliable operation of manufacturing equipment, facility systems, and related infrastructure. This position performs preventive and corrective maintenance on machinery used in metalworking, fabrication, machining, welding, material handling, and other manufacturing operations.

The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in minimizing equipment downtime, maintaining production schedules, and ensuring that facility and manufacturing equipment operates safely and in accordance with company procedures, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Compliance:
  • Maintain awareness of requirements relating to controlled equipment, materials, drawings, technical information, and government property.
  • Comply with applicable ITAR, FAR, DFARS, government property, quality, security, and contractual requirements as applicable to assigned responsibilities.
  • Ensure compliance with all required safety and environmental regulations and policies.
  • Support customer and regulatory audits and inspections when required.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and records associated with equipment maintenance and facility operations.
  • Reporting any suspected noncompliance to management.
Equipment Maintenance & Repair:
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing and facility equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment failures and determine appropriate repair or replacement requirements.
  • Repair and maintain metal fabrication, metal finishing and related equipment.
  • Perform equipment adjustments, alignments, lubrication, belt and bearing replacement, and other routine maintenance activities.
  • Assist with installation, relocation, setup, and commissioning of new or modified equipment.
  • Respond promptly to production equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance requests.
  • Identify recurring equipment problems and recommend corrective actions to reduce downtime.
  • Coordinate with qualified electricians or outside contractors when specialized electrical work is required.
Mechanical, Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems:
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Inspect pumps, valves, cylinders, regulators, hoses, fittings, bearings, belts, chains, gears, and other mechanical components.
  • Identify leaks, excessive wear, vibration, overheating, and other potential equipment failures.
  • Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, machining, or other repair work when qualified and authorized.
  • Preventive Maintenance
  • Execute scheduled preventive maintenance according to established maintenance programs.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, parts usage, and equipment condition.
  • Identify deteriorating equipment and recommend repairs before failures occur.
  • Assist in developing and improving preventive maintenance procedures and schedules.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of critical maintenance parts, supplies, tools, and consumables.
Facility Maintenance:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Support maintenance of building systems, doors, lighting, ventilation, compressed air, plumbing, and other facility infrastructure.
  • Assist with maintaining production areas, maintenance areas, storage areas, and exterior facility systems.
  • Coordinate with contractors and service providers when outside expertise is required.
  • Support facility projects, equipment installations, renovations, and improvements.
  • Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Comply with applicable OSHA requirements and company environmental, health, and safety procedures.
  • Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and required safety equipment.
  • Follow applicable Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures before performing maintenance or servicing equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance work area.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, equipment hazards, spills, accidents, or nearmiss incidents.
  • Follow all applicable security, accesscontrol, and safeguarding requirements associated with a defense manufacturing environment.
  • Protect government, customer, proprietary, and company information encountered during the performance of assigned duties.
  • Any other work or projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
  • Candidates must be considered ITAR Authorized US Persons as defined under 22 CFR 120.62.
  • Candidates must be lawfully permitted and comfortable working in facilities with access to firearms and munitions.
  • This facility is located inside a military installation; candidates must be lawfully eligible to enter a military installation.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical degree, certificate, or vocational training in industrial maintenance, electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, or a related discipline preferred.
  • 3 or more years of industrial maintenance, manufacturing maintenance, or related experience.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and electrical schematics.
  • Ability to use common hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance tools.
  • Ability to work safely around heavy machinery and industrial manufacturing equipment required.
  • OSHA or MSHA safety training strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize maintenance activities based on production requirements.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Experience working in a defense, aerospace, automotive, or other highly regulated manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Government contracts or governmentowned equipment preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to work around magnetic fields generated by industrial equipment.
  • Ability to walk a large industrial facility on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and work in confined or awkward positions on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to lift, exert and carry upwards of 25 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to lift, exert and carry upwards of 50 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to work around heavy industrial machinery, noise, dust, heat, oils, lubricants, and other manufacturingrelated conditions.
  • Ability to use hand tools, testing and sampling equipment.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, protective footwear, gloves, and other equipment as required.
  • Ability to work from ladders, platforms, lifts, or elevated work areas when properly trained and authorized.
Work Environment

This position operates primarily in an industrial metal fabrication and manufacturing environment. The Maintenance Technician may be exposed to moving machinery, welding operations, metalworking processes, elevated noise levels, dust, fumes, lubricants, oils, and varying temperatures.

The position may require occasional overtime, weekend work, or off-shift support in response to production requirements or emergency equipment failures.
