Job summary

Syensqo in Rock Hill, SC, is seeking an Industrial Multi Craft Maintenance Technician to maintain and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems in a continuous manufacturing setting. You will minimize downtime and support safety while ensuring reliable operation of equipment.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in industrial maintenance, a high school diploma or GED with technical certifications preferred, and familiarity with SAP work orders, drawings, and process

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in industrial maintenance, preferably a manufacturing environment.
  • High school diploma or GED; technical certifications or associate degrees preferred.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems; PLC awareness; reading alarms and I/O; troubleshooting; programming a plus.
  • Tools across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and basic fabrication.
  • Analytical and critical-thinking; interpret electrical diagrams; troubleshoot field equipment.
  • Reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings, P&IDs, manuals, and work orders.
  • Planning and scheduling knowledge to execute planned work and record unplanned work.
  • SAP for work orders and maintenance tracking.
  • Maintain storeroom parts; forklift ability and rigging knowledge.
  • Rigging knowledge and safe handling of suspended loads.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and routine maintenance on machinery and equipment to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Support continuous improvement by participating in RCA’s and leading improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct GEMBA walks to discuss line issues with operators to promote early detection.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, including motors, pumps, conveyors, compressors, chillers, boilers, and control devices.
  • Install, align, and adjust new equipment to operational standards and fabricate or modify parts as needed using welding, machining, or other techniques.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals to diagnose faults and perform repairs.
  • Work with automation systems, sensors, and controllers to optimize production processes.
  • Conduct daily inspections and process flow checks, ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities and collaborate with other departments to improve operational efficiency.
  • Assist with plant and facility upkeep, including cleanup and minor structural repairs.
  • Meet committed downtime and equipment turn over dates during creel overs.
  • Document machine and maintenance knowledge in SOP’s or work instruction in SAP.
  • Maintain maintenance records, logs and reports as required.
  • Request, retrieve and maintain Storeroom spare parts, assist with min/max determinations, immediately return to stock Storeroom issues that are not used.
  • Ability to move parts with forklift and have rigging knowledge to safely handle suspended loads.
  • Complete WO’s, improve work procedures, update time estimates, adjust PM/PdM frequencies, etc.
  • Support capital, equipment and process change.
  • Lead and perform maintenance activities at creel overs and annual shutdowns.
  • Support the line on creel over start up and annual outage start up.

Industrial Multi Craft Maintenance Technician
PRIMARY PURPOSE
  • The Industrial Multi Craft Maintenance Technician will be required to have maintenance knowledge with handling, installing, testing and operating all types of mechanical and electrical equipment. This includes hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical drives, power transmissions, motors, motor controls, MCCs, electrical, HVAC, PLC, etc. to ensure optimal equipment performance and facility reliability with a focus on minimizing downtime in a continuous manufacturing environment and ensuring the safe operation of the equipment.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCES
  • Experience: 10+ years in industrial maintenance, preferably a manufacturing environment.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications or associate degrees preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems; PLC awareness with ability to read alarms, identify I/O, follow cause-and-effect troubleshooting with programming a plus.
  • Tools and Techniques: Competent with tools across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and basic fabrication.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to respond to unexpected equipment issues. Ability to interpret electrical diagrams and troubleshoot field equipment based on drawing and equipment symptoms.
  • Troubleshooting equipment (motors, pumps, gearboxes, fans, compressors, electrical systems)
  • Replacing equipment such as bearings, seals, couplings, motors, pumps and lubrication fundamentals;
  • Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, P&IDs, manuals, and work orders
  • Planning and scheduling knowledge to execute planned work and record unplanned work.
  • Computer skills to review and complete work orders in SAP.
  • Maintenance spare part knowledge to locate and retrieve parts from stores.
  • Advanced electrical knowledge, knowledge of instrumentation and calibration is a plus.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, bend, climb, kneel, and work in confined spaces; capable of performing moderate to heavy manual labor.
  • Work Environment: Industrial or manufacturing settings, weekends and overtime.

HS&E Responsibilities
  • Safety compliance and adherence to company policies are critical.
  • Participate in site’s exposure based safety process.
  • Authorized signer or complete authorized signer requirements within twelve months.

Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range.
