Job description

Company Overview

Amperesand is reinventing how the world powers its most critical systems.

We are facing a once-in-a-generation opportunity for infrastructure disruption. Electricity demand is skyrocketing, driven by AI factories, electric vehicles, and modern industrial growth. Energy supply is shifting to incorporate a more diverse mix of resources – including solar, gas, and batteries – at a massive scale.

And yet the power infrastructure behind our latest mega-projects hasn’t meaningfully changed in nearly 100 years. Supply chains for today’s infrastructure equipment can’t match the pace and sophistication of critical energy projects. Amperesand is building hardware and software that rewrites this broken power infrastructure playbook to support a new era of energy abundance.

We’ve built a new class of intelligent, software-defined power infrastructure products leveraging a decade of advanced medium voltage Solid State Transformer research that’s now ready for commercial deployment.

Our products and solutions go far beyond the capabilities of traditional electrical equipment. We make power systems that are faster to deploy, dramatically smaller and more efficient, and capable of supporting modern, dynamic energy needs for tomorrow’s most demanding energy consumers.

Scalable in-house advanced manufacturing capability is our foundation for meeting timeline and quality expectation to serve infrastructure customers around the world.

Amperesand is led by breakthrough energy hardware development veterans and funded by top tier investors who share our vision of building a category-defining energy technology company.

With hubs in San Francisco, Reno, and Singapore, our global team is laser focused on building foundational technology to solve the most pressing problems in power infrastructure at scale.

Join us in building the power foundation of the future!

Role Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician to join our Production Engineering team, focused on ensuring the operational availability of manufacturing equipment and automation across our production lines.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical, and automated systems, along with the drive to continue growing their technical skillset on the job. This role requires a fast-responding, safety-first mindset and direct ownership of equipment uptime in a high-paced production environment.

This is a floor-facing, high-impact role. You will work closely with Equipment Engineers, Process Engineers, and Operations teams as the first line of response to equipment failures, helping keep lines running and continuously improving equipment reliability.

Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day coverage of production line equipment and respond to alarms, breakdowns, and production requests quickly and efficiently to minimize downtime
  • Diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, and clearly communicate findings and corrective actions to engineering and operations teams
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks on schedule and proactively improve PM documents and schedules under the direction of the Maintenance Lead or Supervisor
  • Perform major equipment repairs and rebuilds as required, including occasional weekend and holiday coverage
  • Use manufacturing systems effectively, including MES, spare parts inventory systems, and issue tracking platforms
  • Collaborate with Process Engineers, Equipment Engineers, and other cross-functional teams to resolve maintenance issues, review procedures, and improve equipment reliability
  • Follow all maintenance safety protocols at all times, including LOTO, 5S, and Arc Flash requirements, and lead by example in maintaining a safe work environment
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce recurring failures and eliminate unplanned downtime
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience maintaining industrial equipment and automation systems
  • Automotive technician background or relevant technical military experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Skilled at troubleshooting automation, conveyance, and electromechanical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Experience working within at least one of the following specializations: electrical/electronics, mechanical/machining, or automation/PLC/robotics
  • Willingness to support 24/7 operations and respond to escalations across shifts as needed
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Bonus Qualifications
  • Allen-Bradley PLC experience strongly preferred
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting Fanuc or equivalent 6-axis robots
  • Familiarity with safety control devices, LOTO procedures, and Arc Flash safety standards
  • Experience using MES or computerized maintenance management systems, CMMS, for work order and spare parts management
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic schematics for equipment diagnosis
  • Experience with power electronics or electromechanical assembly equipment in energy, automotive, aerospace, or consumer electronics manufacturing
  • Creative problem-solving mindset with a focus on faster, better, and more cost-effective solutions
