Job summary

Bayer CropScience Limited is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Remington, Indiana. The technician will ensure the maintenance of facilities and machinery while collaborating with staff across the plant. Responsibilities include conducting maintenance, scheduling services, and compliance with safety standards.

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma or GED, basic IT skills, and the ability to lift up to 60 lbs. Compensation ranges from $32.28 to $39.37/hour, with additional benefits.

Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the maintenance of our facilities and machinery/equipment used for production processes, ensuring safety and quality in alignment with applicable procedures. The technician will collaborate with employees across the plant and handle basic activities in IT systems (SAP and electronic networks).

Responsibilities

• Conduct and complete maintenance on company facilities and equipment across the warehouse, plant, and maintain an active inventory of parts, supplies and tools to complete needed repairs and meet availability expectations.
• Coordinate and schedule service/maintenance work.
• Maintain company facilities and equipment to enhance value, usefulness, and provide a safe working environment.
• Understand equipment maintenance requirements and support floor-level employees on the maintenance schedule.
• Follow up with floor-level employees on replacement parts or ordering parts for maintenance on each equipment.
• Assess and comply with all applicable hazardous work permits, including Lock out Tag Out (LOTO), line breaking, fall protection, confined space and atmospheric monitoring.
• Maintain accurate records for all equipment and facility maintenance activities performed, leveraging internal IT systems.
• Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to company’s HSE Environmental Safety & Health and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) standards (e.g. general shop floor/machine safety and operating procedures).
• Report on any issues to areas, End to End team, and leadership in a timely manner.
• Perform other tasks across functional areas depending on site and seasonal needs.
• Help drive waste elimination and value creation by reducing variation in the production process and equipment settings.
• Support areas across the plant in driving the adoption of 5S practices to maintain an environment conducive to work, aligning with labelling and ordering of tools.
• Maintain current metrics and other relevant information on visual boards to drive teamwork and facilitate shift change over.
• Become familiar with and troubleshoot seed production equipment (when applicable) operations.
• May be called on, from time to time, to operate seed production processes.
• Drive a company vehicle (pooled or assigned) as required, including possibly driving greater than 5,000 business miles annually.

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Basic knowledge of IT (Internet, Excel, PPT, Word, facilities with systems).
• Ability to work days, nights, rotating shifts, weekends and overtime as business needs require.
• Valid Driver's License. Driving record must meet guidelines based on the company’s Risk Screening for Hiring Drivers – MVR will be reviewed as part of preemployment screening.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 60 lbs.
• Ability and knowledge to conduct and complete maintenance on company facilities and equipment across the warehouse and plant.

Preferred Qualifications

• Three to five years manufacturing experience.
• Intermediate computer skills with experience using SAP and PLC.
• Prior electrical knowledge/experience such as E1&E2 Training, VFD’s, Soft Starts, Basic PLC experience, and/or Blueprints/drawings, wire tracing, motor testing, etc.

Employees can expect to be paid an hourly rate between $32.28 and $39.37. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).
