Job summary

Zero Zone, Inc. in Ramsey, MN is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our team.

Under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor, you will plan and perform maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment, utilities, and office equipment, ensuring safe, efficient operation. Required is an Associate's degree or technical training with 3–5 years of related experience, strong mechanical aptitude, familiarity with electrical systems, and basic computer skills.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; 3–5 years of related experience and/or training.
  • Thorough knowledge of maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude; familiarity with electrical aspects and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair shop equipment, machines, and electrical components safely and efficiently.
  • Lubricate, replace belts, and perform preventive maintenance; repair mechanical parts as needed.
  • Assist with outside safety inspections, recordkeeping, and continuous improvement efforts.

Come grow with us!!What Can We Offer You?Vacation and Personal Hours (after only 30 days!)Competitive WagesComprehensive Benefits Package (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, STD, LTD, AD&D, HSA/FSA, EAP)401k and Profit Sharing10 Paid HolidaysFlexible SchedulesCasual Dress CodeWellness Programs and IncentivesSteel Toe ReimbursementEmployee Engagement ProgramsOne-time Home Computer ReimbursementAnd more!What Will You Do?Under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor the Maintenance Technician plans and performs work relating to the maintenance and/or repair of; building, mechanical and/or electrical equipment, buildings utilities, company vehicles, all manufacturing equipment and appropriate office equipment or furniture.Essential Responsibilities:Maintain and repair shop equipment in a manner which is timely, effective and safe, while minimizing down time.Cleans and lubricates machine parts such as shafts, pulleys, gears, and bearings.Replace or repairs machine belts.Removes dust, dirt, grease, and waste material from machines.Bends and cuts conduit and wire, and drills holes in walls, floors, and ceilings for electrical connections.Cuts out and joins parts for worktables, benches, shelves and other furnishings.Operates welding equipment for maintenance purposesMaintain records for shop equipment, parts replaced, time to repair and any suggestions for improvements.Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program, which includes safety inspection items for shop equipment.Support placing purchase orders to maintain spare parts and designated supplies.Make recommendations and participate in making improvements to equipment and building.Maintain machine files and related documents for the equipment.Assist with outside equipment contractors for safety inspections, equipment adjustments and repair.Maintain a clean and orderly shop and work area.Maintain good relationships with co-workers while encouraging teamwork concept for maximum productivity and quality.Ability to work independently in a timely and safe manner and consistently complete tasks within the time required.Assist with production work as needed.Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives in order to increase performance.Assist with training new employees as needed.Assist Safety Committee and support Safety programsOther duties as assignedRequirements for Effective Performance:Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; three (3) to five (5) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.Thorough knowledge of maintenance in a manufacturing environment is desired.Excellent mechanical aptitudeFamiliar with electrical aspects and troubleshooting electronics.Proficiency in basic computer skills.Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Skills/Abilities/Specifications:Able to work overtime as required.Ability to effectively communicate one on one and in group settings with other employees within the organization.Comprehend simple instructions, both oral and written, pertaining to customer orders.Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Behavioral & Environmental Requirements:Maintain a positive work attitude. Zero Zone expects all employees to behave and communicate in a manner which will facilitate good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, and supervisors.Safety toe shoes and safety glasses are required while in production areas.Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk throughout the office and production areas; have use of hands and fingers to use a computer, telephone, and other office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.Occasionally erects and stands on scaffolding, ladders, and platforms.Occasionally works at various heights for extended periods of time.Occasionally works with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder spray and aerosol forms
