Job summary

Milestone Retirement seeks a Maintenance Technician to perform general maintenance for our senior living community. You will handle preventative work, respond to resident requests, and help keep the community safe and welcoming.

The role offers an hourly wage of $19, with benefits including medical, dental, vision for eligible hours, 401(k) with employer match, generous PTO, pet insurance, and other perks. A valid driver’s license and TB clearance are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 1-3 years of related maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of building systems and codes (HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
• Valid state driver’s license required for vehicle travel.
• Must meet health requirements including TB clearance.
• First Aid certification required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair community systems including HVAC, elevator, fire and sprinkler equipment, generators, kitchen equipment, and emergency pull cords.
• Perform general maintenance projects such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and equipment repair.
• Respond to resident maintenance requests promptly and efficiently.
• Maintain vacated rooms with painting, cleaning, and minor repairs.
• Ensure common areas are maintained (walls, floors, doors, woodwork).
• Communicate with local authorities and regulatory agencies as needed.
• Document safety issues and deficiencies per guidelines.
• Respond to emergencies and assist management as needed.
• Foster teamwork and positive relations with residents, visitors, and coworkers.

About The Role

We’re seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform general maintenance, repair, and upkeep of our community’s interior and exterior. In this role, you’ll handle preventative maintenance, respond to resident maintenance requests, and ensure the community is safe, functional, and welcoming.

What You’ll Do

• Maintain and repair community systems, including HVAC, elevator, fire and sprinkler equipment, generators, kitchen equipment, and emergency pull cord systems
• Perform general maintenance projects, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and equipment repair
• Respond to resident maintenance requests promptly and efficiently
• Maintain vacated rooms, including painting, cleaning, and minor repairs
• Ensure common areas are properly maintained, including walls, flooring, doors, and woodwork
• Maintain positive communication with local fire marshals, building inspectors, and other regulatory agencies
• Assess plumbing and electrical problems and determine the best course of action
• Document safety issues and physical deficiencies according to local, state, and federal guidelines
• Respond appropriately to emergencies, assisting management as needed
• Foster teamwork and maintain a positive impact on residents, visitors, and coworkers
• Report any suspected elder maltreatment or abuse to the Director of Health and Wellness, Executive Director, and/or State
• Perform other duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 1-3 years of related experience in building maintenance or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Knowledge of building systems and codes, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical
• Valid state driver’s license required for vehicle travel
• Must meet all health requirements, including TB clearance
• First Aid certification required
• Compassion for and desire to work with the elderly
• Strong communication skills with residents, families, and team members
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
• Applies common sense to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions
• Pleasant, professional, and personable demeanor
