The Heartland Tommy's franchise organization of the Tommy's Express car wash chain is looking for a Maintenance Technician with solid mechanical aptitude and maintenance experience to assist with the technical aspects of our car wash facilities in the Kansas City metro area.

Tommy's Express offers facilities that use the most modern equipment providing faster, safer, and more sophisticated car washing. The machinery automatically adjusts to every vehicle's size and shape to ensure that every surface is clean. The dual belt conveyor makes it easy to enter and leave the wash and offers the ability to wash aftermarket tires and duallies.

Job Summary : The Maintenance Technician has mechanical aptitude and maintenance experience that will help oversee technical aspects of our car wash facilities. The position requires prior mechanical knowledge and experience, along with a desire to learn and work with the most advanced equipment and technology in the industry.

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, repairing, and serving equipment at multiple car washes, and specifically three sites in the Overland Park and Olathe, KS areas. The role is responsible for partnering with Site Leaders to ensure the day-to-day maintenance and equipment is operating at a high level.

Key Responsibilities :

• Make good decisions to prevent and resolve issues quickly and appropriately
• Lead the efforts and perform a variety of repair and maintenance tasks on buildings, equipment, electrical, hydraulic systems, and plumbing
• Assist with the day-to-day maintenance operations and align practices to the company's vision, principles, and policies
• Implement preventative maintenance measures
• Operate and maintain a wide variety of hand tools and equipment
• Maintain basic records related to work performed and inventory of repair equipment and supplies; collect and enter data and photo / video documentation into a computer system
• Ability to prioritize tasks, set and attain project goals, and follow specified procedures
• Ability to collaborate with team members and maintain clear, open communication verbally and in writing
• Work under routine and urgent conditions, both indoors and outdoors
• Know and follow safe work methods and safety protocols
• Confident, friendly, outgoing personality and energetic
• Goal-orientation and a strong work ethic
• Ability to maintain clear and transparent communication
• Ensure a consistently great, positive customer experience for every guest
• Perform other operations, maintenance, and carwash site care duties, as requested

Required Qualifications & Skills :

• High school diploma or equivalent work experience
• 2+ years of maintenance experience in construction, electrical, hydraulics, and / or plumbing
• Desired experience and knowledge : installation and maintenance of industrial electrical systems, wiring practices, electrical codes, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, high-pressure and vacuum pumps, plumbing
• Experience in operating a variety of equipment and tools; experience with welding preferred, but not required
• Demonstrate proficiency in the safe use of power tools and heavy equipment
• Welding and / or electrical certification preferred, but not required
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and trouble-shoot quickly
• Willingness to consent to a background check
• Must be 21 years of age with a valid driver's license
• Willingness to abide by our uniform appearance standards

Note the following regarding schedule :

• Availability to work a flexible schedule based on projects with possible late nights, early mornings, and weekends (some of the maintenance work cannot be conducted during carwash business hours)
• Willingness to travel when needed (up to 20%; limited overnight)

Physical Demands : Ability to continuously stand or walk for prolonged periods; ability to bend, squat, climb stairs, climb ladders of various sizes, reach, and lift frequently (lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally); must be able to use hands and fingers to operate, handle, and use controls, equipment, and tools; vision must be sufficient to see details up close and must have the ability to focus in loud environment.
