Job summary

INW Capstone Nutrition in Ogden, Utah seeks a maintenance technician to perform routine and complex tasks on production equipment. You will troubleshoot, repair, and improve equipment, assist with parts inventory, and support continuous improvement projects.

Strong reading of prints and drawings, plus basic electrical/mechanical knowledge, are essential. Responsibilities include ensuring timely maintenance, updating logs, and collaborating with the technician group leader.

Qualifications

  • High school or GED equivalent preferred.
  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience maintaining production equipment.
  • Familiarity with metric measurements.
  • Knowledge of fasteners, pneumatics, and vibratory feeding systems.
  • Basic electrical and mechanical maintenance knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots and repairs equipment to ensure production schedules are met.
  • Ensure proper checkout of parts from maintenance control onto work orders.
  • Operate bench grinders, sanders, drill press, surface grinder, and milling equipment.
  • Recommend and implement changes to promote continuous improvement in production operations.
  • Assist technician group leader on projects as required.
  • Demonstrate mechanical ability and troubleshooting skills.
  • Read prints and electrical schematics; communicate effectively in writing.
  • Support a team-based approach to completing tasks.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

Job description

The person who holds this position is responsible for performing a variety of routine and complex tasks including setup, troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and improvement of all production equipment. Assists in maintaining proper inventory levels of spare parts for all production equipment. Participates in continuous improve projects of production equipment and tooling. Updates all appropriate logs, charts, and records, and assists technician group leader as directed.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Troubleshoots and repairs equipment as needed to ensure that production schedules are met.
  • Ensure proper check out of parts from maintenance control onto work orders
  • Proper use of bench grinder & sanders, drill press, surface grinder, manual milling, and associated equipment.
  • Recommends and implements changes in production operations to promote continuous improvement.
  • Assists technician group leader on projects as required.
  • Proven mechanical ability and trouble shooting skills.
  • Read prints, basic drawings, and electrical schematics.
  • Communicates at all levels effectively, both verbal and in writing.
  • Supports "team" concept of getting the job done.
  • Perform other duties as directed or required.
  • Proper use and care of equipment and materials issued to work area.
REQUIREMENTS
  • High school or GED equivalent preferred.
  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience maintaining production equipment
  • Familiarity with the metric system of measurement.
  • Knowledge of fasteners, pneumatics, and vibratory feeding systems.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical maintenance work.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally and 25 regularly
  • Ability to lift, twist, crawl, stand, reach, grab, bend, climb, and perform similar activities as needed.
  • Ability to see and differentiate between colors.
  • Must be able to understand, speak, read and write in English in order to perform the essential functions of the job as they relate to comprehension of laws, regulations, standards, documents and other internal and external communications.
  • Proficient in MS Office and basic computer functions.
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle.
WORK CONDITIONS
  • Subject to normal warehouse and production environment.
  • Subject to high noise levels where hearing protection is required and all personnel protective equipment is required.
  • Subject to atmospheric conditions, such as fumes, odors, powders, dust and other particles.
