Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in an acute healthcare setting preferred.
  • Two years of HVAC or refrigeration maintenance, repair or construction preferred.
  • Two years of HVAC construction preferred.
  • Two years of hospital maintenance or construction preferred.
  • Able to troubleshoot, read schematics, and/or blueprints.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Certified and/or licensed in a specified trade relative to healthcare engineering (Steam boiler, HVAC, etc.)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

Responsibilities

  • Provide general heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration maintenance, repair, and installation services for hospital facilities.
  • Operate, maintain, repair, and install HVAC systems, equipment, and apparatus in cooperation with engineering management.
  • Work on chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, air handlers, fans, VFDs, and BAS components.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, codes, building standards, and hospital policies.
  • Contribute to a safe, comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Responsibilities

The HVAC Mechanic I provides general heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration maintenance, repair, and installation services for hospital facilities under the direction of engineering management. Examples include, but are not limited to: Chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, air handlers, fans, variable frequency drives, air distribution systems including air balance and air exchanges for critical areas or isolation, refrigeration equipment, ice makers, medical gas systems, and building automation systems (BAS). The HVAC Mechanic performs duties in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, codes, building standards, and hospital policies. The HVAC Mechanic participates with the facility service team to operate, maintain, repair, and install HVAC systems, equipment, and apparatus to provide a comfortable and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

  • Two (2) years of experience in an acute healthcare setting preferred.
  • Two (2) years of HVAC or refrigeration maintenance, repair or construction field preferred.
  • Two (2) years of HVAC construction preferred.
  • Two (2) years of hospital maintenance or construction preferred.
  • Able to troubleshoot, read schematics, and/or blueprints.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Certified and/or licensed in a specified trade that is relative to healthcare engineering (Steam boiler, HVAC, etc.)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $19.00 to $28.00. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
