Job summary

United Pharma in North Carolina is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to service packaging and inspection equipment in a regulated manufacturing environment.

You will perform hands-on mechanical/electrical repairs, preventive maintenance, and root-cause analysis on line equipment, including vision systems and serialization tools.

Qualifications

• Pharma manufacturing experience preferred, especially packaging.
• Must troubleshoot, repair, and maintain packaging equipment.
• Experience with PLC-controlled equipment and serialization tech.
• Familiarity with GMP and FDA requirements.
• Ability to read manuals, schematics, and technical docs.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

Job description

• Perform hands-on mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical troubleshooting and repairs on packaging and inspection equipment.
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and maintain operational reliability.
• Diagnose equipment failures and perform root-cause troubleshooting directly at the equipment level.
• Support equipment adjustments, line changeovers, upgrades, and minor modifications to improve equipment performance and reliability.
• Maintain and troubleshoot vision inspection and serialization systems, including cameras, sensors, printers, scanners, and related components.
• Troubleshoot PLC-controlled packaging equipment by responding to faults and alarms and performing basic system resets and recovery procedures.
• Ensure equipment maintenance, repair, and cleaning activities are performed in accordance with GMP, FDA requirements, and site SOPs.
• Accurately document maintenance activities, repairs, troubleshooting findings, and corrective actions.
• Partner closely with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to maintain continuous manufacturing operations.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and technical issues during production to support line uptime and product quality.
• Follow all applicable safety procedures and site requirements while performing maintenance activities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience as a Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing or packaging environment; experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, or other regulated manufacturing environments is strongly preferred.
• Proven experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining packaging equipment such as cartoners, labelers, conveyors, printers, and vision inspection systems.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to independently diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
• Working knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment, serialization systems, and vision inspection technologies, such as Cognex Vision Systems and Systech Serialization.
• Experience providing routine equipment maintenance, production line support, and breakdown response.
• Familiarity with GMP, FDA requirements, and regulated manufacturing practices.
• Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Production, Quality, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment.
