Job summary

Progress Industries seeks a Facility Technician to perform upkeep and repair of all properties, following safety standards and accessibility requirements. You will conduct preventative maintenance and support on-call duties, prioritizing tasks daily.

At least a high school diploma and preferred 2 years in trades, plus a valid Iowa license, are required, with independence and problem-solving skills strongly valued. The nonprofit offers family-friendly benefits and growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Perform upkeep and repair of all Progress properties.
• Conduct preventative maintenance as directed by Maintenance Supervisor.
• Be responsible for on-call maintenance.
• Prioritize and execute daily maintenance tasks.
• Pursue quotes from independent contractors for major remodeling/repair projects and routine services; present bids for review.
• Visit each location at least quarterly to assess repair needs.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Facility Technician position will use proper safety measures when completing daily assignments, and meet and comply with necessary accessibility standards.

• Performs and manages the upkeep and repair of all properties managed by Progress.


• Perform preventative maintenance as directed be the Maintenance Supervisor.


• Responsible for on-call maintenance.


• Prioritize and execute work tasks in Maintenance Care daily.


• At the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor actively pursue quotes from independent contractors for major remodeling/repair projects, and routine services (such as, lawn care, snow removal, weed control, pest control, etc.). Present all bids to the Maintenance Supervisor for review/bid approval.


• Visit each location a minimum of once a quarter to determine the need for repairs.


• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Candidate must be 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma or GED. Prefer at least 2 years post high school education or experience in the construction trades, maintenance, or related field.


• Maintain a valid Iowa Driver's License with a good driving record, and a private automobile used to carry out job duties. Hold adequate liability insurance (required:$100,000/$300,000/$50,000).


• Ability to comprehensively review work and ensure that all aspects of it are proceeding in the right direction.


• Ability to troubleshoot and provide quick solutions to unexpected problems.


• Works independently to meet scheduled deadlines.
